Depends on the prison. My guy doesn't know unless I tell him. My husband used to get notified the same day when he received money.

When my PP was in a private run prison
could send a money order to her.
Now she is in a Federal prison run by
the Government must send a M/O to
a defferent place.
Know not the question you asked but
hope it helps.

Thanks. So when your husband got notified him, did they tell him who sent it, or just that there was money in his account? also, you said your guy doesnt know unless you tell him ~ does that mean he doesnt even know he has money waiting or he doesnt know who sent it or both?
Thanks for your help!

My fiance is in T.D.C.J. facility and I use j-pay often to send him money I don't know if they tell him on his unit so when I write to him via j-pay I tell him I have put some money on his account

My guy doesn't even get told he has money. So I always make sure I let him know when it will be sent so he doesn't miss opportunity to spend it.
I believe my husband just got told the dollar amount added to his account.

Hubby can ask at the commisarry window if it's open when he is on his way back from work. He knows roughly when I send money, so he likes to check before his store day. TDCJ inmates are supposed to get a balance sheet once per month, but it doesn't say who the deposits are from.

When I use to send money through J-pay to a missouri prison, He would just go slide his card to check his account, but with in a week they would hand him a slip with the amount put in his account and by whom. Does not give them any of your account information.

Yep. That was the way it was, for my PP, at Mountain View (in TX). She never knew what funds she had available until she went to the commissary. The only problem with that was that you couldn't go to commissary unless you were scheduled to go (once a week). And then, if the COs were too lazy to take them, they would miss it. So, anyway, I always tried to send her funds on the same day every month. That way she had a reasonable way to expect that the funds would be there.
