Please forgive my ignorance but is there something wrong with Jpay at the moment. I recently began correspondence with a inmate in Tennesee who access to Jpay (tablet) and now I have received no response from them in over 3 weeks. I checked the jpay forum and it appeared they have been having some serious technical issues (I emailed jpay support and have had no response) does anyone know if this is still the case? Is this a state/facility thing, a tablet thing or just me? Any enlightenment greatly appreciated.

I sent my first email to an inmate at Monroe Special Offenders on July 8, 2019, and haven't heard a thing. I included return postage for him to reply. It just says "Sent" in my outbox; I realize that there is no way for the status to change once its been delivered/read/etc. Does anyone know if JPay is still experiencing issues at this point?

I never got a reason for why a video I sent my husband was rejected. I mean I know why, lol, but they never actually provided an explanation.

At my husband's last facility the kiosk was always broken. He also had a lot of issues with his tablet not downloading the emails & videos off of the kiosk. I think it's a good idea you writing to her by snail mail to see what's up.

Today I got my completely generic reply from Jpay support regarding this matter, saying they looked into it and all emails had been delivered to my friend/spouse/loved one/relative. Never mind its been almost a month. Is this company run out of someone's mum's basement or maybe from a computer in a garage next to a still and a pile of nudie mags!

As of yet no reply from my penpal so I have sent a snail mail to let them know I emailed!

Thank you for your post, this pretty much confirms what I was thinking happened - something big/technical. I have only been able to get bits and pieces of info on what has happened. Much gratitude.

Oh lol they get carried away with their own importance. My friend writes with a lady in Louisana, and had a letter returned stamped " insanitary" she was livid, she said it had travelled 14,000 miles there and back and was still spotless, so she phoned the prison, who told her it smelled of perfume, which she ( we all do) sprayed perfume on her mans letters and the perfume had seeped thru, so now she has to keep the writing pads seperate. Ridiculous rules

Oh man. Not exactly. Something like the video being detrimental to the security, good order, and discipline of the facility, as if the whole tier rolling on the floor laughing would be a breach of any of those.

Lol..yeah..their excuses are a scream most of the time...can you remember any of it...? Bet its hilarious

I can confirm that Jpay and/or the facility does indeed view and censor incoming material. In the you-can’t-make-this-stuff-up department, one of my buds asked for this twerking video. It was a total hoot, G-rated stuff that I found on YouTube - a national championship thing that originally aired on broadcast tv, so, as tame as it gets - announcers, audience, everything. I sent it as a videogram through the Jpay app by holding the smartphone up to the computer monitor.

I wish I’d saved the rejection notice. It was even funnier than the video!

I believe so, I know if you put a photo/picture on it takes longer to reach the inmate. But mostly I don t think it gets the scrutiny that physical snail mail gets, most likely just a cursory glance for any red flag words..

Does JPay mail get checked both ways? Like both incoming and outgoing?

If you were able to send a pre paid reply stamp then that means they CAN reply back by jpay e mail..maybe try sending a new e mail..then if no reply call it a day with that person?

Jpay has been playing up over recent months.
Messages appearing upto a month after I sent them to the penpal but others arriving within a few days.
Also some of my penpals are having issues downloading my messages from the kiosk.
If they don't have a tablet, they need to use the kiosk to read and answer. There's a time limit on that.
I would suggest always sending a first contact snailmail letter before using any jpay/corrlinks/gettingout message platform.

JPay's customer service is notoriously slow at responding to queries and technical issues are very frequent. I think sending a letter via snail mail may be the best option. Hope you hear back from your PP soon!

Thankyou everyone for your responses, much appreciated. I did send a follow up message (with a prepaid message stamp) and no reply, so not sure there. I am outside the US so I even sent a follow up email to jpay support, no reply their either - maybe they are busy fixing stuff. I might have to send a snail mail to let them know I have sent a jpay lol. Their is a bit of chatter on the jpay forum about technical issues regarding tablets dated just a week ago, so I am thinking that may be it.

Maybe it's a stamps thing? If your pen pal is out of JPay stamps (message credits) it could be they have no means to reply. I've also heard of equipment problems where the tablets don't sync to the kiosk in one direction or both, so it could be a technical thing too. Hope it all sorts out soon.

3 weeks does seem a little excessive for standard JPay delays. I was going to suggest a follow up email also. Did you include a pre-paid response with either of your emails? Just in case they don't have any stamps to respond with. Maybe you could call JPay support? It's a 24/7 line and free to call if you're within the US.

I sent a Jpay  a few minutes ago. It was to TX, though and there ain't no two -way-messaging anyway, so I can't help you with that one.

Hopefully you're gonna hear back soon.

Yes I did send a follow up email four days later, no response to it either. Just not sure where the problem (if any) is.

Have you sent a follow up email?
