Hey I know this is out of the normal to ask but do you know anyone in ISCC Idaho, I'm still trying to find out if they are on lockdown or not

Thank you for being understanding:-) the issue was I got a message then replied back to it so his is a lot longer he then messaged a short one telling me that it was a long reply and said hope it gets to me soon so I sent a short one back with a attachment picture but haven’t heard anything back that was on the 29th so I figure I would have heard something about the small message with the picture but nothing so far, I did read that there was a passing of a inmate due to covid so I’m thinking that maybe they are on lockdown or something

No please don't worry no question is wrong - I'm still getting used to JPay and the way it works - I haven't received anything for nearly a week now and I'm starting to wonder what has happened! You'll get used to the system and also see patterns in what goes through when etc and you'll know what timing is "normal" for you and your pp, but again even then anything could happen!

Thanks everyone for the reply back to my questions, I’m not new to the prison situation as I had a brother in federal for 14 years and there was always something the facility would come up with, I’m just new to JPay also I read that there was a covid death yesterday at the prison of the pp I’m talking with , I’m ok with the waiting time , just more of trying to clarify things , I hope I didn’t seem offending about asking about the lag with JPay , I didn’t mean it that way at all.

12 hours is no where near a long wait for a reply, and certainly not in comparison to snail mail. I have literally had months between letters due to the Covid pandemic.
I've also just found out that letters I sent in May/June are going to be rejected from my PPs facility because the prison decided to change the rules on what is allowed (now no double sided letters, and max of 5 pages) without informing anyone or giving any grace period or leniency. Meaning my PP wrote to me in April, and still hasn't received a reply.
I think everyone writing to prisoners should practice their patience. It's not like communicating with someone outside of prison. Where texts fly instantly and so do emails. Every bit of their lives is carefully curated by the prison. And most of the time, it's not to their advantage. I wish people new to this would see this and act accordingly. And know that if you think it's hard, that your PP will mostly likely find it harder.
Just something to keep in mind

Yeah I'd agree with that - if they're longer they can take even longer to come through. I just received one tonight that was sent a week ago. X

From my understanding, at least in some places, JPAY doesn't send photos over the weekend but will send messages. That being said, JPay takes longer to send longer messages - if you sent a long reply or are waiting for a long reply back, it's going to take some time. 12 hours is not a lot (in my experience) of time, unless all the messages sent are rather short and sweet.

Hi, thank you both for commenting :) and letting me know I didn’t know if it was correct or not, it’s Idaho I was wondering about, I’m still awaiting a long email reply back, it’s been over 12 hours waiting for that so starting to see JPay and snail mail can be about the same lol

So it does depend on the prison, but usually JPay doesn't go through on weekends, and if you are writing to someone who can recieve and send mail on weekends, it will typically be a lot slower as there is usually more mail to sort through at the weekends :)
