Just throwin' down for everyone to chime in on if you like. I asked my pen pal (we are just pals, nothing else) how many people he pen pals to..I was just curious, his ad says "not receiving mail" which is one big reason I chose him. He is always telling me how busy he is writing to his pals....and I am thinking huh? He must have one or two more now thanks to W.A.P which is awesome. So he writes and says he has fifteen that actively write to him, in the states and over seas! I replied back that his ad says he has not been getting any mail. I told him also that it is great he has friends to write to but fifteen? OMG...how doe she do it? I wonder if he really does have that many? He did mention that I have written him more in one month than all the other combined ha ha ha I do write alot. I am happy he is writing and staying busy, he has a life sentence and needs all the support he can get, of course. Does anyone out there believe this number? I don't know why he would lie? He is awesome but that number blows me away! He should change his "not receiving mail" post on his ad though ...that is how I feel about it as some will chose pals according to this point and there are so many others in prison who really do not have any pals.

you know, it could be that even though he's on the " not receiving mail" list.. that many of his pals simply contacted him through snail mail, as opposed to doing it through the website... That way... it doesn't register with WAP. And I don't see why he would lie about that number. I think it's great he has many friends, like you said.. he needs all the support he can get.

The important part is not that he has 15 other PPs, but rather are his letters interesting? I think that it's great that he has such a wide variety of friends, just as many of us, in the free world, do. If he is fun to talk to then nothing else should matter, I would think.
Not everyone writes 10 page in depth letters... writing to 15 people could mean 15 one or two page "hey what's up" type things just to have fun and have contacts.
(I've heard of people that can write one or two page easy going letters, ha ha... I'm not one of them, but I know they're out there!)

I can well believe he has 15 people...I would think a lot of ads on here get a lot more responses than that. [B]One[/B] of my pals writes to 4 others as well as me (2 other women and 2 men) but says his other 4 pals are all devour Christians...he almost bit my hand off with glee when I turned up, he says I'm normal (lol) but he also writes to his mum, his dad, his brother and sis and also his nieces and nephews! He must write dozens of letters a week, but I get a 7 page letter at least once a week, so I think I overtook those other pen-pals pretty quick (within a few weeks) but I don't mind who he writes to, we are just friends after all.

neither and neither! If I could wish for him I would wish for a hundred pals! At first I thought nah, he is blowing smoke up my a$$ nobody can have that many pals!! But his letter that came today said that some pals are over-seas and he only gets a letter a month from them. And he mentioned that the letters he sends most of his pen pals are short...like someone posted earlier...that is the case. I get 2 or 3 pages on both sides and consider it long from him sooooo.....what I wouldn't give for a nice juicy ten pager on both sides!
I get ten-pagers and it takes 10 pages to respond back, comment on comments and answer all the questions lol - sometimes 10 pagers make the hands sore :) though they do give you plenty to read.....2ndt letter one of my pals got from me he said he was upset when it ended...I'd written 9 pages LOL - so I made the next 11 pages, he still moaned not enough LOL

now THAT is something to really sink your teeth into..ten page letters from the pen pal ! OMG what a dream.....ha ha .... typically though men are less of a writing type than us girls...not always, but typically. Funny thing, my boys all started out with like, one sided page as their reply letters! And little by little they got better but nothing close to what you get! Lucky ducky : )
then R. must secretly be a girl :P he writes me a MINIMUM of 12 pages every time.. and I don't mean 6 pages back to back, I mean actual 12 pages back to back. and my replies are usually the same + 4 more pages. I was kidding about the girl part obviously ,. :P but he is a real chatty kathy.
The more I write, the more MM writes because he responds to just about EVERYTHING I say. If I say something nice to him, he'll quote me. If I make some random comment like I saw this commercial, he'll say he's never seen it. NOTHING goes untouched so his letters tend to get to be just as long as mine.
He had his ad on another site - I got him through someone else - but he only had ONE person reply to that ad and he wrote her, even though he tells me she's crazy, lol. He BARELY writes his Mom. But he calls her like 2-3 times a week so how much more is there to talk about with your MOM? He writes a couple of cousins, now my mom. He still writes to one girl here from WAP that I hooked him up with when I was trying to pawn him off, lol. I'm SURE there's more. I think he writes to friends of the family and such but like others have said - that will be once a month or every couple of months or something I think.

Not trying to put a negative on a positive thread but I was just wondering, does anyone get feeling of jealousy over their pp having other pp's, or moreso a large number of them?
Lovacat you make a good point concerning spreading the letters around a bit, but on the other hand my question would be how many PP do people on the outside have on the inside? I admit that I write to one as very special and about 8 as just friends, but then I make it a point to send birthday cards to about 10 a week most I do not write to otherwise, it is just a passion of mine to pick out 10 a week from the birthday list and send them... some months more, some months less. At Christmas I use a bulk mailing permit because I send out over 300 Christimas cards.and with current postage rates the way they are, I cannot afford to do it otherwise. Unfortunately with postal regulations they cannot be personalized except for their name using the bulk permit but at least they get my Christmas cards. And I have my Christmas cards hand made by a family in the Philippines who does them to earn a little extra money for food and so that they can have a Christmas and it works out great on both ends.
I think it depends on your relationship. Do you get jealous that your friend has other friends besides you? Then why should this be any different? However if you're in a relationship with your pp then one could get upset if you find out your guy is talking to 15 other females.

I just started so I don't know. He says I'm the only one. I'm not usually a jealous type but I did get a little jealous feeling to think if he was writing 15 others, if it was the same way we talk. Not that I'd be jealous of friends.
Well yeah, no one wants to be #13 of "hey baby, I love you"...but hopefully that's not what it is!!! I have 15 friends here in the free world... right? They say the best way to prevent institutionalization is to have as much free world contact as possible therefore I must support it! (but not as #13, LOL!!)
