Hey, I just joined. I understand first hand what it’s like to be in a prison, twelve years in Idaho Iscc home now three years. Clean, happy, just had my first son. Unfortunately my brother is currently incarcerated in a Texas prison. My wife and mom visit him I unfortunately can’t because of my past crimes.

Hey welcome! Congrats on the baby and still being out here. It’s a real accomplishment :).  Sorry to hear about your brothers situation. I can’t imagine how much it sucks not being able to see your brother. Are you at least in contact with him through other means? I hope you find what you’re looking for on here and happy writings!

@cleo95 kind words thank-you my bro is doing good, the demons of drugs took hold of us both for a while there. Do you have a family member or a pp?

Oh wow, well that’s good you’re both clean now! I have 3 pen pals through this site. Only started writing in January, but it’s been pretty good so far! As an ex-inmate, are you allowed to write to other inmates?

That depends on your conditions this moment in time I’m not writing anyone incarcerated in the future I cannot say Its not a possibility.  You do build friendships inside it’s not the same as friendships on the outside.my sister placed a penal profile for my brother.

Hey and welcome.

Congrats on the baby and staying clean. Sorry to hear you can’t visit your brother, that must be difficult. Does he have long left?

I currently write to someone at Idaho ISCC.

@BabyBlueEyes thank you

My bro has around eight years left. Is it a family member or a pp you write? How long as he been in iscc? My bro was in until last may when he was moved.

Is your bro eligible for parole?

He’s a PP. He’s been in since 2015 but he’s been between there and max.

@BabyBlueEyes, if he keeps doing as good  as he is he could go up in 2023, it’s just a waiting game, I was in max for a while it’s the first place I got put,

I just need to shout out to you guys taking the time to write someone incarcerated takes a lot so thank you.

No, it isn't. Being in & survive is much harder than just taking a few stamps & write in. And you did, so congrats on that one plus staying out & being a Dad.

Before you ask ;-) : got several penpals through this site, the 1st one who wrote to me has been given a date for getting out on parole this summer.

As you probably can imagine, he's both being impatient and a little nervous. But it's good seeing & hearing about ppl who successfully made it. So keep on keeping on.

Congrats on being clean, and having a wonderful life!! I hope you stick around on the boards, your knowledge of what it's like on the inside is invaluable.

Yes, to having pen-pals, but more importantly one of my pen-pals turned into my happily ever after. He's a lifer in Ohio.

You have very valuable insight, having lived through what most of us can't even imagine. Congrats on your new addition as well!

I'm sure even if you're not allowed to write directly you can provide some good advice... especially on getting clean and staying clean which is something close to my heart in loving a family member and other people close to me that are recovering addicts. We would all like for you to stay around for a while and fit right in, and if you see something that you feel capable of responding to, jump right in because sometimes there aren't enough of us here who can.

everyone here in cali seems to be getting shorter sentences for good behavior but in all honesty i think they are filling up too fast with all the you know, new crime rates in california, ahh i shouldnt go there and i wont. look im new too, my baby brother just got out, hes been in and out his whole life literally since he was like 10 years old. He finally got sent back here to cali over an old warrant he had, suddenly called wanting a ride home lol was thinking holy sh*t.  \happens every single time no matter who it seems to be.. problem is, theres soo many rules and tape to run through while dealing with the system here. I had just started thinking recently about creating a friendship, you know a penpal of sorts to someone incarcerated here in california would be pretty damn decent, someone i can visit atleast once in awhile, many people dont understand anything about this interest. however Id bet nearly everyone here understands the reason why someone wants to write and become friends with an incarcerated inmate from their same state and even opposite sex. makes it that much more interesting. i sure as hell look forward to writing to someone back and forth and get to be friends, regardless what they have done.. everyone not ONLY deserves a second chance but i wish everyone DID have the opportunity to have the judge OR the jury to be looked at very much closer while in trial. these people go on things based on near nothing. maybe a race thing or something that weffected him/her in their yard the prior night. maybe they lost a child and maybe a child gets killed with a stray bullet while you are trying to protect your children and yourself from a gang of people walking up. most people dont have the time to run, my point is, ANYTHING can be going through their heads, even those paying them off for the big time peoples. lol. hey just for the board and all, every SINGLE piece of this informartion is 1000% hypothetical. and NOTHING more.. thought i should state that as ya never know.. I like to talk my mind and I think juriors should NEVER EEEVER do what the courts are moving to and that is AI (ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE) making the decision for your sentence or whether you get death penalty and so on. a damn robot computer basically will be used over a REAL judge. THIS is what i want to prevent even with the jurior flaws, atleast the are human and empathy & emotions are something computers will NEVER have. I say NOO WAY lol to this oh hell no.. why did it come up.. hmm i was talking to someone about something and this subject came up.. lol happens all the time
