Penpal in Michigan

I don’t have any in MI but I did see on a page that the mail regulations in MI are very strict and tough, in some states they take away the envelope, photocopy the letter, then give that letter to the inmate.  I may be wrong, but I believe that is the way it is in MI.  I imagine that takes up A LOT of time.  

I just googled it and it looks like they DO take the envelope and switch it over to a plain envelope, so all mail to MI inmates has to be labeled on the actual letter a certain way to get delivered properly.  I guess all that switching envelopes over in the mail room and then going by the addresses on the letter takes some time !

Yeah, but this will only work for the initial letter. I don't have anyone in MI.

I had a pen-pal in MI. We mostly went through jpay, and that was considerably faster, as we could exchange a few emails in a day. As for letters, he only sent one letter to me, and it took close to 2 weeks to get to me. I'm only 4 States away from him. 

I have a penpal in Michigan and my experience has been positive, they're really fast actually. Only one letter got rejected, probably because I used correction fluid. :/
