Hello All,
There are some do's and don'ts that I know about when it comes to sending mail to inmates. Some prisons for example won'at allow printouts of webpages. If there is something you want to share with a pen pal you need to copy the content and paste it into a wordprocessor without all the webstuff, web address and such, at the top and bottom of the printout.
I would like to share some photos with my pen pal. I've scanned then in with the intention of printing them out on photo paper and include them as photos like I always do. But since I don't have any photo paper at the moment I thought I'd ask if anyone regularly uses a wordprocessor to write their letters and if it's ok to include in lots of photo in the document?
This seems like a stupid question but I wouldn't want my friend to have to go and pay postage to return a letter that broke some rule.
BTW, my friend is in a women's prison in Texas. I use my computer for writing because my handwriting is so bad.
Thanks,
kruise

i scan pic's all the time and send them i havent had a problem yet anyway
I got some staples in in a Wisconsin Maximum security prison!
I had one penpal send me a mans sized hankerchief that he had done a design on for me.....I didnt know that they could post such things out, but obviously they can!!
:-)
Scanning pics on your writing paper or envelopes you send is a great idea if your prisoner goes to a/c or d/c ....(the box)...they are not allowed pics while in this kind of confinement...but pics can get through on the writing paper or envelope :)
And your prisoner will be lifted by the special gesture

is it okay to send pages that have been stabled together? i am asking this because stables are of metal and i thought that institutions might see it as a safety hazard.
so far I,ve ben able to send scanned photos in without a problem.

I emailed an institution about this they said it is OK to send scanned photos.. maybe double check it with your friend's institution first!
Hi Kruise,
I have never had any problem doing that. Even successful when sending to Texas. :-)
