My PP is in a State Prison for a number of years but their trial is being reopened and they could be let out early. The only problem is that he was transfered to a County Jail and I've not heard from him since. I only know he was moved because I'm in contact with his family. I've not received a letter in around 2-3 months and I have no idea where to send my letters to either - as I dont want to send them to his ex-prison just for them to get thrown in the trash because he's not there. Can anyone shed any light on this for me please.

Oh, and put him in your prayers that his case goes well... he's going in a few days!

Apparently once the trial is over, the prisoner is assigned to prison or released, but does not remain in the county jail, since the crime corresponds to the state system. Maybe he is there for a few days while the transfer is scheduled.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions. I messaged his Dad to see if he could give me any info but I try to avoid doing that haha. If he doesn't know then i'll use the locator suggestion!

@PGG - Do you know how long it takes after the courtcase date is complete, for our PP's to go back to their prison instead of county jail? Because at the moment mine's definitely finishing up in October so idk if they still have to stick around in Jail or go back to Prison after it ends.

What @PGG and @Cleo said - and best wishes that it resolves in the best possible way!

Hope it all goes well for you pen pal @Mateo. I've heard of people using VineLink to find their LOs in jail, so if you haven't used it, maybe try and give it a go? Good luck xx

Hello Mateo
I have a friend who is in a county jail (in Texas) because they are reviewing his case. He has been there for over a year because the hearing date has been rescheduled over and over again.
His name doesn't appear in the Texas DOC, but on the county page. I think you should check to which county your case belongs and look for the corresponding page. I guess every county must have one. The correspondence with my friend is slow and he blames the county system, but it may be different in other states.
I hope your friend gets a good result in his new trial.
