If anyone lives close enough to make a drive to louisiana- you should !
For the whole month of October, every sunday, Angola prison holds a rodeo.
All of the contestants are inmates! Its a really fun event and there is also a lot of cool stuff for sale. I'm going to take some pictures and post some up for you guys on monday.

We have a gay rodeo in Abq once a year, its a hoot! Drag Queens cheering on the boys
I would pay to see my PP on a bucking bronco.
Then, I would pay to see it again.
It's going to be so fun ! The coolest part is- my beau- is going too ! They don't allow inmates and visitors to sit the same part of the stands, but i will still be able to see him and wave at him from my seat :D It's going to be the first time he gets to see me dressed normally and NOT like nun. HA. He is excited.
Its a shame you cant have a more formal visit. Seems to me if the offender is non violent/you are prescreened- you should be able to sit together. I guess its for safety. Have a great time and enjoy the food. :)
Ahhh- I wish me and my beau could hang at the rodeo!! Our best chance is that we both get the seats on the ends and then we will be separated by a walkway. So then we could yell at each other or something silly like that. :) But, I just got back from visiting him all day.. so seeing him 2x in a weekend is going to be sweet.

I got bad some bad news- I was just checking the angola prison rodeo website and all cameras/cell phones have to be left in the car. So i will be unable to take and post pictures. :( sorry duders. no flicks. :(
On the good news. I found a small, index card size, flash card that has all the letters in the alphabet in ASL. My beau asked me if I knew my alphabet-cause he does- and he was joking saying that we could sign to each other- I told him i didn't, but i found it last night while I was trolling on the internet. :D haha. let's see how far it will take me.

I got to sit right next to my beau :D :D :D we were only separated by an aisle on stairs. I brought a friend along with me, and she was joking saying "Soooo... is this you guys first date?"
And that is all the details you are going to give??? You get to sit across from him and that is that? Commmmmeeee Onnnnn. HAHA. Were you able to talk?..( or yell ) to each other? Did you feel the electricity in the air? Any fun glances exchanged? Did you stand up to go to the concesions and ..oops.. trip and fall over to the lap of the complete stranger , someone that you do not know or have never ever spoken to that was sitting across the aisle from you?

Ok- so I had it all typed out, but then i changed it at the last minute, i wasn't sure if anyone wanted to hear details.. but since you asked. Here's how it went.
My friend and I got there and went to the arena first to look for my beau- and our real seats were actually in the same section as all the inmates, just 4 rows in front. So we are standing there, staring at the sea of blue shirts trying to pick my beau. After about 30 seconds of solid staring, we didn't see him, and decided it was best to go walk around and check out all the arts & crafts for sale and come back later. We were thinking maybe he hadn't gotten there yet. So- after an hour we came back and as we were walking up i saw my beau sitting on the the end seat- and i saw him before he saw me- which was GREAT- because he ALWAYS sees me first and its kinda this little competition we have going. Who can spot who.
So as I'm walking up the stairs he sees me finally and starts laughing. I sit on the end seat also just on the other side of him. He tells me we have to be REALLY discreet. So of coarse we are oogling over each other-not really talking just smiling, and eye contact- a guard comes over and tells him to chill out. All the other guys that were from the other prisons were really curious as to how my beau knows me- (all the inmates from all the prisons are mixed in together) and me and my friend were giggling about it. We could hear them asking him "Hey! You know her?! Who's that? Oh- thats your girl? Who's her friend???" After an hour or so, the guards are watching us. They think he his harassing me. One guard comes over and tells him he has to move, and he was moved to the other side of the bench. And then 20 minutes later he is back in his seat. I was really curious as to how he convinced them- but for the rest of the rodeo he was not allowed to turn his head and look at me.
So later that night when he called me- he was laughing saying that the when the guard moved him, he told my beau "Do you know that girl you where talking to is FIFTEEN YEARS OLD??" ( i am actually 26-i just look young :) ) and my beau replied "Really?? Only fifteen ??" and the guard says "YES.. shes only FIFTEEN.." and my beau says " wow... you would have thought the pastor would have said something when we got married"
and he said the look on the guards face was priceless. Then the guard was like "oh- thats your girl?? "
So then he allowed him to come sit by me, but- he wasn't allowed to look at me. Which made my beau kinda mad, cause everyone else could look around but him. Poor babe!
So yes- it was really awesome! And the electricity in the air wasn't from the thunderstorms :D

not sure if I should say that but I guess alot of these people just get down there to say hey I have seen an inmate,sounds a bit like having a zoo trip.
I'm sure there are some people that do that- but what's funny is how reversed it feels- you are on their turf- and YOU are on display... not them. It can be quit intimidating at times.
