I recently sent a reply letter to an inmate on the 9/01/19 and I just looked them up to see as of today or a few days ago, they got transferred to another facility. I live in Australia so obviously the letter would have taken a couple of days or a week to even reach Colorado but now that they have been transferred will they receive mail from the old prison or should I just expect they won't and send a new letter out to the new prison?

In most cases yes... They have a DOC number for life, even if they return to prison they get the same number. It will follow on with them eventually... the facility will just pass it on.. If all else fails and they can't they will return it to you and you can send it back to them again.

Normally, yes. I once wrote a first letter to an inmate who got transferred just two or three days before the was sent letter off, even WAP didn't have the new address when they printed the letter. He got it. It took about two months to get a reply from him, but it wasn't a problem and now he's one of the most regular corresponding penpals I have.

Some prisons in Colorado doesn't always transfer the mail, I've experienced that. In which prison your pen pal was and where he has been transfered ? Some facilities always messed up with the mail

He was at Fremont CF now he is at Crowley County CF. It wasn't a massive transfer as they are about an hour or so from each other so hopefully mail can just be redirected.

I think so, I know twith Sterling it's messy. One of my pals is in Illinois and has been transfered too, I don't have news since :(  Maybe it's related to the state Idk, do you have a pal there ?

stranI sadly don't know anyone out there! I know with transfers sometimes it takes awhile to settle in and get your things, and seeing how the transfer took place literally a day or two ago I am sure he isn't settled in yet, I just don't want him thinking I haven't replied that's all but if all fails I'll send a new letter to the new CF.

I'm sorry to hear about your gentlemen, it actually kind of sucks knowing how quickly things change and how difficult it is to try keep contact. If I lived closer I would just try setting up a visit I sadly can't :(
