So, here’s a question for y’all. I’m trying to figure out if this is a normal thing or an exceptional thing.

A little while back, there was a thread on writing to more than one person at whatever facility (as in, picking random names out of the same hat, which is discouraged for all the right reasons). I’m not talking about that. What I’m wondering is this: have any of you been asked to write someone else? Someone who might need or want some conversation and sunshine? Not to the exclusion of writing to person number one, but in addition?

This has kind of taken off for me. One has become two, and now there are others, with transfers thrown in so it’s kind of a chain reaction. My friends are like brothers to me, each one amazing, and it turns out they have some amazing friends on the inside too. So, the pre-screened, pre-qualified thing is pretty awesome.

Anyone else? Thanks in advance.

My PP in Texas writes a bunch of people, she writes to a good friend of mine too, she's great person. She recently ditched a male PP of hers as he was sending her inappropriate stuff which could of got her in trouble.luckily it didn't..

I still worry about him. I think him and I had a legitimate friendship. We got along and joked all the time via email and videograms. If circumstances were somehow different I would still be writing to him. Sadly, he's a dope fiend (all his crimes were due to getting money to get high), and 10 years later he's still doing the same thing, just been doing them inside. Which actually worries me so much more after learning about it.

I get that @Northern. My friends know better than to even ask me such things, if indeed they ever had a cause to.

No, I've always found my pen-pals to not want to share at all.

My pen-pal whose institutional information I received,  had 3 out of his 6 pen-pals being investigated by SIS because he was using them to contact 3rd parties conducting 'business'. The 3 that were being investigated (I read all the phone transcripts) were out of the country. Hence, in part why I think he never once asked me.
