Hello:) I was wondering if someone could help me out a bit.. So I'm from Overseas and would like to send some stamps to my pen pal in San Quentin, however I have no idea how to do it! I know there are websites like Access Securepak and Union Supply I could probably use but wouldn't that count as a Quarterly Package?! I mean, what if someone else wants to send something to him for this quarter and won't be able to do so just because I would have sent a few books of stamps?? I surely don't wanna f**k things up for him like that ha ha! Or maybe I just don't get something here?

First of all, check if it's allowed to send stamps. That's something I wanted to do also, but that's not allowed in general (at least not in the prisons where my penpals are).

Yep, I know it's allowed in California:) If I was in US I would just buy some and send to him directly, but being in Europe makes things a bit more difficult for me, if at all possible... And I know he's gonna run out soon:(

Hello, you can buy boxes of stamps from Amazon. Read about the number of stamps you are allowed to send at once and then send them.

FrankieBones, thanx so much!!!

Helping is what I do... Use Amazon.com... You may be charged a small amount of money extra in currency conversion and bank fees but I don't believe other sites will have US stamps.

I've ordered the stamps already! :D It's just 14.50 Euros for 20 stamps with shipping, so not that bad... Can't believe I didn't think of Amazon myself though!!!:O You really saved my ass here ha ha! Now I just hope he gets them... He told me he never got the stamps his friend sent him earlier so you never know...

I think it has to come from a proper store otherwise they reject them but I don't remember the exact rules in California. You can maybe also write by jpay which would be quicker if you're in Europe. But it depends how often you want to write. You should be careful sending lots of stamps to someone in California as they can also be used as a form of currency to buy other things in prison.

I know about JPay, I'm using it with my other pen pal in Texas, however I can't use it for writing my Cali pp. But I'm writing him via jmail.cc and I also have a P.O. Box in LA so he doesn't even have to pay for International postage. I don't know, he didn't ask for stamps, he just said he's running out, so I though I could send some... I'm not planning on sending stamps to him on regular bases though, still keeping my guard up ;D Although he seems genuine...

Tilia, that's what I thought too, that you should keep your guard up, because you can never know... My penpal sent his letters to his mum who mailed them to me in France, because he couldn't afford international stamps at that time and told me he should be able to get some soon, apologising at the same time for being slow to reply (which wasn't the case). I can understand why prisons wouldn't allow people to send stamps since they can be used as currency, but then again, why not have the mailroom keep them for a particular penpal ? (yeah, I know, in my dreams !) Anyway, best of luck ! :

Thank you, Thucy!;) I actually asked my pp if he'd like me to send him some stamps in my last letter, but then decided to do that before hearing back from him, because I'm so impatient... Honestly, I'm secretly hoping he's gonna say something like 'no thanx, I'll be fine!' ha ha We will see... On the other hand, he is writing quite often, I can't complain! I'd really hate to be distrustful of him, for we are getting pretty close already...

So, he is writing me on post cards now, since he's already out of stamps. I figure he should have received the ones I sent by now (Amazon says delivered Nov 23), so I'm waiting... Oh and in his messages he's telling me there's a guy in there who's selling books of stamps for the regular price and that I could just send $10 to his PayPal account. Do you think it sounds legit? Anyway, I'm not sending any money to anyone, because I just sent those damn stamps. But is this a red flag or what? ha ha :D

He shouldn't have a paypal account if he's in prison. I wouldn't be sending him any money that way.

Yeah, that's what I thought... My pp said that guy is checking his account daily, I wonder how??? lmao Unless someone on the outside is doing it for him, of course.

People buy phones on the inside. It seems like he's gotten a phone through a hustle, which also means he probably, has a substantial amount of money and doesn’t need your stamps anyway. Stamps are just a less obvious form of currency in most prisons/jails. It sounds like you’re talking to a scammer.

Thing is, it's NOT my pen pal, who has that Pay Pal account (or a phone for that matter), he just told me that he knows a guy in there, who has a bunch of books of stamps from gambling and my pen pal could buy some from him, but since he has zero funds himself, he would need me or someone else from the outside to send money to that sellers Pay Pal account, so that my pen pal could get stamps from him. I hope it's more clear now:)

Don't send any money to the guy with the PayPal account when the prison finds out you'll loe all your privledges to speak to him, and if you were in the US you could probably get in a whole lot of trouble about it. Honestly... provided that you've read all the rules about sending stamps they should turn up.

I get it. Won't be sending any, I don't feel comfortable doing it anyways... And that's what I'm going to tell him. To be honest, if he tells me he never got those stamps (I'm pretty sure I did everything right) and still asks me to send money thru PayPal, I'm gonna get REAL suspicious this time! Still waiting on him, though. Getting tired of this whole situation already...
