I feel your pain Isabelle. It's been two weeks for me. Although, I did get a very brief phone call on Saturday. The TN prison my pal is in has been on a modified lockdown status, due to the government shutdown. She was able to at least make a quick call to tell me.

But like you, I am awaiting snail mail and can see my level of patience growing stronger!

Try waiting 6 weeks (and sometimes more) between letters as I have to do on a regular basis from my pal in California. THAT is a real test of patience. I'm only in Canada, and none of my other mail takes that long, so then you point to CCWF and their mailroom. Don't get me started.

I know what you guys mean, waiting for stuff you want is brutal and I hope all of you receive replies you're waiting for soon! I'm waiting on some myself! Shredded nerves indeed, what an appropriate title for this thread, I love it, lol!

Northernyank

Ellis and I send each other a letter a day. Sometimes one won't get delivered that day, so I end up with 2 on the next day.

Lol..shredded nerves indeed...Shadey....
Bugger..I forgot about the shutdown....that probably won't help...guarenteed people aren't gonna be manning the mail room..sigh...

Actually my nerves are more than shredded..my other friend in Michigan Lu sent me a jpay...she & I are a bit luckier than B and I..as at least she does have jpay.....he, B, doesn't...anyhoo..her prison is " shutting down" due to all the women being treated for a rash which turned out to be scabies..so now they all have yo be treated and are going to be on lock down for a week...unbelievable....

ShadeyBiz89
ShadeyBiz89

WHAT???? Omg, Isabelle, that's AWFUL!!!! Hopefully your pal in Michigan is safe...

That's like me, my main guy is in Arizona, you speak of B not having JPay, my guy in AZ doesn't either... so it's snail mail for us but his stuff moves fairly quickly... I looked him up there and the only thing I can do for him there is send money (which I would for like birthday and Christmas type thing), we can't email or do any kind of other interaction at all... which is fine for me anyway, because I'm old school, I prefer letters, as does he!

But yeah, back to you and your incident with the scabies in your pal's prison, where would they get that from??? I hope all the women get treated properly and are safe over there!

People bring communicable diseases into prison all the time, some of them like scabies are quite contagious and it requires the whole prison to be shut down. Others like HIV and hep are manageable simply by enforcing abstinence. The rate of communicable diseases that are unheard of in the general population but happen all the time in prison are quite high. You’ve got a lot of people who can’t afford health care who end up in prison. They think its just a rash until the entire population ends up with scabies from a mite infection. Of course prisons aren't the cleanest places either so mites spread from cell to cell and the next person gets scabies without even wanting it.

Isabelle

But that's not completely true..they are being locked up for a week...not 24 hours..

Isabelle

@shadey.....yes you're right..there is no jpay in AZ...it's snail mail or nothing..I have sent B money via jpay..that works. Which part is your " main guy" in? B is at Florence...

That's exactly what I meant when I wrote that "I'm hooked", but I think some might have misunderstood me. Now, my nerves are more at ease. Probably because I know that my emails will be forwarded today and something is happening. :)

Im basically feeling the same way right now. I’ve written my first email and I know that the emails were forwarded on the 23rd so I’ll be waiting a while for a response! I just hope my inmate responds and I’m nervous that he’ll just disregard my letter lol. I really connected with what he wrote on his profile and I’m finding it hard find other profiles that resonate with me!

Same here Isabelle. Although, I did hear from my PP in TN last night. They had been on lock down for over 2 weeks due to guard shortages from the partial shut down.

She said she was getting my mail (wrote 3-4 letters per week) and was leaving mail out to send to me. Maybe it's not leaving the prison. Not sure. But, it was nice to get a phone call at least.

Better luck on Monday!

Thanks..I was wondering how the shut down was affecting things...

FrankieBones

There has been a temporary stop to the shut down but Trump may still enact a national emergency yet so it may not be over. The good news is people can start going back to work and getting paid for now until Trump starts his nonsense up again.

Isabelle

Which is only gonna be a matter of time....sigh

Guys, the shutdown only affected federal prisons, not state. The shutdown also has not affected USPS.

I don't know if B is in state or federal...

AZ has had probs with the state's facility lately, too. Therefore, in that case- it doesn't matter. I'm writing to a guy in AZ since May- all I can say is, turnaround time has increased considerably since then. And it turned REALLY bad from Nov till now.

Isabelle
Isabelle

Ohh manno....I'm actually thing of opening a jmail..if the turnaround times stay like this..I'm putting it to teething problems right now..until we get into a writing pattern..but if you're experiencing delays then it's not looking hopeful...

Or...of course..I might simply have been ditched....lol

Isabelle: to answer your question, my guy in AZ is in Lewis. He and I have been corresponding since November 2014. I'm fine with snail mail tho, I'm not a huge email person period so...

Good to hear Isabelle!

Almost a month and still 0 letters. 1 phone call per week though, so that's good.

B is State, Isabelle!

I wonder if you're writing to my man, ShadeyBiz89!? :-)

Although I think his profile expired Aug 2014. Who knows with WAP though, haha!

Totally OT but I've been wanting to change my username for years! haha! Guess one good thing came from the change (even if it took until now for me to realise it!) but we deffo still need an edit button!

ShadeyBiz89
ShadeyBiz89

He put his profile up in October 2014, I wrote him right afterward, it was a new ad, so if your pal's expired in August 2014, it's not the same one, LOL! I'm pretty sure it's not, if you're Spriggs especially not! I also know this because my guy finally got someone other than me, they just started writing last year, and you've been writing to your man for awhile, haven't you???

I've never experienced writing the same person as someone on here (and both of us knowing it)! Have you ever encountered someone who turned out to be writing someone you were??? (this question is to you and anyone else who wants to answer, LOL!)

I'd love to know if anyone had the same PP as me, just out of interest!! One guy I'm writing to has another PP in England and they are actually couple now, he talks about her a lot which is very sweet :) I hope it works out for them! I don't think he's got any others apart from the two of us, at least not that he's mentioned (aside from family).

I did ask one of the other guys, and he said he'd had 2 other people write to him aside from me in response to his ad, one was a guy who made him feel uncomfortable (asking too many intimate questions) and one young woman who he didn't feel comfortable with as she was only 18/19 (he's in his 40s)... and he *says* he doesn't have any other penpals.

Of course we can't know what is the truth but none of my pps are asking for anything from me other than my time so I really don't mind who they write to :) More letters is better!

I've had it happen to me before with a lady in Chowchilla but she's a scammer so I pretty much said "you keep her." I don't think it would end well for anyone writing my SO romantically because we've got a bond not many people would understand. On the other hand she has had a couple people write her and one woman who she said was around 300lb. There was one weird guy on here that bought her some more profile time on here, I dunno who that was...

To be honest, I do and I don't care, but I can't know so you put it down to just whatever... I don't really ask because its none of my business. But the last time it came up she wasn't writing anyone from here. She said she got like three responsees from her profile which is weird because she's one of the most attractive women on this site period.
