This evening whilst having dinner and drinks with two of my dearest friends I mentioned one of the inmates I wtite to and something he mentioned in his most recent letter.

The reaction = Silence.

The comment was utterly ignored.

Has anyone else had a simlar experience?

I love these two friends but find it interesting/ bizarre they can ignore an important part of my life.

pauli, I haven't been ignored, but the subject is usually changed quickly by some of my friends - I guess some are not comfortable with the subject....

Pauli, there are too many posts on this,do read back.
We can,t expect others to always understand all this, not even all friends or family.
Alot of it is the way we put it to them.
Just get over it,enjoy what you believe in,and do!

Thanks bigdog,

yeah...I just thought it may be of interest to people. The reaction didn't bother me, I just thought it worthy of a post.

I honsetly think allot of times that people don't know what to say so they don't say anything and change the subject....it is sad because our pals are a big part of our lives and people just don't understand it.

flimflam, I have a problem when members try to control what other members post - this use to happen a lot - I have been guilty of it myself - but we need to encourage posts - not discourage them....

bigdog - i'm glad we're on the same page. i think evitasdad was merely pointing out that there is a pre-exisiting thread that is brand new that addresses the same topic. i appreciate his effort and didn't think he should be ignored.

On a related note; when you have told your real life friends about your penpals, have you told them what they're in for if they ask? I'm having problems with this. I feel like this is something I shouldn't be sharing with other people, that it's no one's business etc.

What do you do? It's not likely that I ever meet my penpal, let alone my friends, but still...
