The two people I mailed through Jpay already mailed me back and they are awesome people, we talked about dog training, running, furthering education, books (in great detail, which I love!) and I shared my hiking and travel photos.  I will check my PO Box this weekend for letters from the two people I wrote snail mail to, but it probably will be awhile until I hear back from them due, I figure I should give it a month or two (-:

It’s so nice to connect on a totally different level, they told me they really need that positive energy in their lives right now!  I love that pen paling is so relaxed and feels like no pressure, for us it’s just talking about things we love and want to do with our lives.  Yay for the writing, and book program on here (-:  Just wanted to share because I am happy and glad I decided to write to people from this site.

Thank you Kirsten!  Yeah I was thinking they would Jpay me back in like a week or so, if at all, lol.  But their pages were all about the books I love, hiking and animals so I’m glad we hit it off and had so much in common.

One is in Ohio, the other is in KY.  The two I wrote to via snail mail are both in TX.  Where are your pen pals from?

Hi Ta.Pe!  I have a friend from Germany I play an online RPG game (yeah I play D&D everyone feel free to tease me for being a nerd lol) with and he and I traded Christmas presents last year...it took a month for our packages to get to each other lol.  Hopefully you get some fun letters from your pals soon!!

Yup, I play a neutral lawful fighter/ monk, lol, my group is called Bardians of the Galaxy, and we wonder around getting tricked by goblins and saving knights and fair maidens in need of our help, by rolling dice and using character sheets and rule books lol

Kellykelly my Jpay pen pals are from Ohio and Kentucky (-:

the two I wrote to in snail mail are from TX.  Those I will give several months to even wonder about a reply, I imagine it takes awhile to get mail and then send it back.

One I can already tell after trading a couple Jpay mails is going to become like a serious BFF, we both are really bouncy people and talk nonstop about books and animals we love and have these quirky, “lalala” personalities lol.  Where are your pen pals from?  Do you all have a lot in common?

It is really good to hear that you already have such a positive experience. I hope for you that you might have many more of those and that you can build some long lasting friendships in this journey. Happy writing!

Athena, I've got guys in IL (2 of them), TX, AZ & PA. But one of the IL guys will be released on parole this summer.

I normally wouldn't go for two in the same state, but with IL it just so happened. One of them being a shorttermer and one of them having decades to go, there wasn't much of a chance for them to bump into one another, anyway.

Aww kellykelly I think that is beautiful!  It sounds like you did things in such a perfect way, penpals, best friends, love.  It’s so often missing from the world today (-:  No need for apologies, I like hearing about people being happy and you do really sound happy and I’m glad you treat other so well!!  Me too, there’s such a fun “let’s encourage each other” vibe and life needs that too !

Kirsten that makes sense (-: I’m in PA, btw!  It’s very beautiful here.  So many forests.

And such a very slow postal service! Don't ask me why, but PA stuff always takes the longest to get here. And my letters to PA take the longest also. It's really weird.

I thought you were in Greece, teehee. But, ok, you were just borrowing the name of the Goddess, I see.

That is weird!  Isn’t it funny how it changes from state to state?

Ha, actually it was my grandmother’s name, and I was named honor of her.  My mother’s side is first gen Greek, my father’s is second gen Irish.

Great mix! I wish I had been given my granny's name, even as a middle name, but I wasn't. I was very close with one of my Grannies and ppl who knew us both keep on telling me I resemble her more and more the older I get. Anyway, I'm sure she'd approve of this penpal thing, if she knew about it.

Yeah, it really varies. Tx (yes, Tx, sorry guys) usually just takes 6 days from here to there. But PA? With this detour to Florida (PADOC has all mail sent to Florida, not directly to the facilities) it really takes long.

Athena there is nothing wrong with D&D, though life has gotten in the way so i haven played for a while (Neutral Halfling Sorcerer :D ) I found that my my PP also loves it and has a small group that would play with him, if we was able to convince the prison to let them meet (there may be an issue with dice since they cant have any, though there are ways around that, though clunkier)

Kirsten, aren’t grannies the best?  I love this forum, we set out to all find pen pals to enjoy the experience of writing with, and we all have each other on here too, from all over.  It’s neat.

Yay Zaneta!  I have such mad respect for sorcerers.  I rarely play them because I think it’s a role for very mystical and magical people.  I used to play a chaotic neutral gnome rouge back when I played 3.5e years ago, but now that I play 5e I’m all about the lawful monks.  My character keeps adopting goblins who end up trying to eat the party :-D  I was the DM for a few games but my friends are so ridious it was just them rolling out glitter cannons and trying to party with skeleton warriors, I lost all control over them, but it was epic.  I love your profile pic btw are you cosplaying Kaylee in Firefly or just look exactly like her ???

Athena, I'm in PA too!  You might be interested to look into Informed Delivery from the USPS if you haven't already.  It'll send you an email or text with a picture of your letters that are due to arrive to your P.O. Box that day.  I love that it saves me any unnecessary to the post office :)

Thank you Cleo!!!  I picked up a few more penpals on JPay because it was fun emailing people, I didn’t want to take on a million pen pals and not give them all lots of time and attention.  I have five now, and I still want to snail mail with my two I wrote to, if they want to write back!  TX can’t do JPay for some reason.  But my pals in other states like to use it because they get their letters quicker and can message back in a timely manner (2 days usually, but it’s pretty random, sometimes it’s minutes, sometimes days)

They’re all incredibly nice people and very respectful of me, they told me they completely understand I am looking for friends, and that they are locked up so they wouldn’t ask anyone to be a relationship with them, they’re just happy to hear about my hiking, pets, and they sent me really awesome pictures, one guy got his diploma recently which was awesome, the others are all in the dog programs.  They apologized to me for not getting back to me even quicker or having time limits with the kiosks, one expressed a lot of fear that in this instant gratification society of texting I would get bored with him and ditch him, but I told him I’m not like that.  I told them I would always be laid back and understanding about slow replies due to things no one can control and they are busy with appeals and things like that.  All mine on JPay are JLWOP (adults now, they’re all my age) and some of those laws are changing so I hope they win their cases !!!
