Hey I posted this once but don't think it saved.
Is a prisoners visiting list/phone list private. Can you ask the prison to see it? Or can an inmate show people? I've just been approved for phone calls and was wondering how safe my number is? I'm just applying for visits and I'm concerned about how safe my information is?

Thank you for asking Laura, Allenwood has been going on lockdown quite a bit, so we had a failed attempt. I'm going to see him next month. Fingers crossed he will get approved for 3 hour visits for the remainder of the time he is at Allenwood. Gen pop can get up to 8 hours.

Thank you for you input northern and I will keep in mind what you said you put my mind at ease thank you. Hope everything is going ok with your husband? Are you still having regular visits?

In AZ we can apply to see our LOs list of 20. Without their knowledge or permission. And as Northern said , the page of yr LO that you sign in with.

Your information is perfectly safe. As for visits the sign in book is different for each facility. For example, when I visit my husband at his federal facility, I just sign in for that day as well as everyone else who is visiting. When he was in a State facility I only sign in on his actual "sheet". I can see everyone who has ever visited him before. There's no getting away with shenanigans. Lol...unless he decides to share your information, which I doubt highly you're fine. Just be aware and this is no fault of his own that mail does get mixed up, and delivered at times to the wrong person. Most inmates will immediately alert a guard and let them know the situation.

You bet! And I’ll admit to being a little wigged out (at first) on my very first visit to a friend in prison – all the razor wire fences, heavy steel doors, stern-looking officers, security checks – it’s intimidating for real! But then I realized, hey! These things are all in place to keep people safe – keep me safe, keep my friend safe – and there he was on the other side of that door. In that moment, when we met each other in person for the very first time, all the high-security trappings dissolved into nothingness and melted away, and it was two buds just hanging out and enjoying each other’s company.

Check with your friend and the facility’s rules so you’ll know what to prepare for and what to expect. With all the details covered ahead of time that way, you’ll have twenty fewer things to worry about, so you can focus on the main reason for going – the AWESOMENESS!!!

Thank you ST4s for the very clear answers and I will take your advice about just enjoying it. When I get approval I'm going to go as soon as I can think once the first time nerves out the way I will be more at ease.

Q: Is a prisoner’s visiting list/phone list private? A: Yes, to the degree they keep it private.

Q: Can you ask the prison to see it? A: Yes, but the answer will be no, unless the prisoner has granted you access to this or other records (e.g. if you’re listed as next of kin, emergency contact, medical, POA, etc.).

Q: Or can an inmate show people? A: Yes, but I’m told they guard this information very closely (unless they’re jerks).

Q: I've just been approved for phone calls and was wondering how safe my number is? A: As safe as your friend keeps it.

Q: I'm just applying for visits and I'm concerned about how safe my information is? A: The prison will likely run an NCIC check on you and put you in their database. The bulk of the information (state ID, driver’s license, ssn, passport no., etc.) is only available to law enforcement, though your name will be available to the prisoner. FYI, most places generally only tell the prisoner if you’re approved for visitation, e.g. you can’t just call in and ask (or you can, but they won’t tell you anything, see above).

And while you might have all that front of mind right now, keep this in mind too – that phone calls are frickin’ awesome!!! Visits are frickin’ awesome!!! Just focus on the awesomeness and I’m sure you’ll be just fine! Best wishes for a speedy approval :-)
