pretty princess...you dont understand, the prisons simply cannot give you details...they tell you what the inmate is in for but they cannot tell you the details of the crime.....The Dept. of Corrections is the housing unit for inmates..not the courthouse, if you want detailed info..your going to have to get it from the courts or otherwise. The prisons are not the place to go for details..they dont have them. They have the inmate. Much has been posted recently about how to get court records etc etc so I wont re-post all of what everyone has said. However, if it is details you want, you cant get those from the prison....
Hi - this is the "bogus" otîs here - haven't gotten around to changing my details yet.
Have you tried doing a Google search using the name of the inmate? If somebody is inside for life, chances are that his/her case made the newspapers at the time. Such a search would also dredge out various (but not all) official documents.
With the Google search, you'd probably start with the terms (as an example):
"fred smith" texas murder
Note that the name is inside inverted commas - that way, Google will search for the whole name, not miscellaneous Freds and Smiths. You might also try "smith fred" - the name could appear this way in some instances.
By trying various terms (eg: dallas instead of texas; inmate instead of murder) you should gets results.
Hope this helps - "bogus" otîs
kimber,
i should get more than the race , and relese late of that prisoner tho shouldn't i ? i mean where can i get more information on them like you did susan eubanks, and sandi ? thats the type of information i'm looking for. thanks to all for the help !
That type of information is only usually going to be available through old news stories etc etc... like otis has stated, through search engines etc etc, and thats ONLY if there was something written, otherwise, you just have to go to court records, which you are able to have and view, for a fee... Info has Also recently been posted to the boards bout how you do that by Law Dog I think... Prisons are only able to tell you of what the person was convicted of. For details, you have to rely on what otis said.. or access the actual records.

"Bogus" otîs here again. (Hey - the name's starting to stick.) Try copying and pasting the following into your browser:
http://www.google.com/search?q=%22susan+eubanks%22+inmate+OR+prisoner&n…
...you should get a whole stack of Susan Eubanks info. (There might also be a few false leads; ignore them.)
Once you have the Google page on your screen, "bookmark" it. Then, when you want to search for details of another person, bring this bookmarked page up again, but change the name accordingly in the small Google window.
Good luck - "bogus" otîs
kimber can you give me more information, i have not read anything about courts, and how to obtain records, so if you could help me i'd be so greatful to you !
thanks a bushel
Well, do as what otis suggested, and here is a previous post of info Law Dog posted on another thread, perhaps it will help you:

Brian:
There are many different levels of "detail" involved, depending upon how deeply you want to dig.
If you're desiring to know EVERYTHING you can about the accusation, the testimony, and the verdict, that would be public record as well, although it would take some doing to get it.
This would involve one of two (or both) of the following:
1. Go personally to the courthouse where the case was tried, and pull the case file. You can then (sometimes) stand there and photocopy every page, at a cost of typically 25 cents per page. This can get very expensive. Bear in mind that you won't get anything in written form regarding oral testimony from the case file....that is usually on recording or on the Court Reporter's "take-down" device, which would have to be transcribed. (See #2 below)
2. Contact the Clerk of the Court, or the Defense Attorney and find out who the Court Reporter was at the trial stage. Contact the Court Reporter and inquire about getting a "transcript" of the trial. This is generally limited only to a typewritten version of oral testimony, and wouldn't include any documents filed (such as motions, pleadings, briefs, etc.). This, too can be extremely expensive, IF you're able to get it.
Quite often you can find at least a "summary" of the charges and sentencing using other resources (DOC website) but you won't get much in terms of detail about the elements of the crime, or the testimony.
Pretty Princess, ask the inmate, and ask him to be honest, you would be suprised.
