The French-Canadian series "Unité 9" about a women's prison in Québec. So much better than Orange is the New Black!

The first crime show I've ever watched and still do to this day- Law and Order SVU. I must've been like 12.
Other than that, I do enjoy quite a few:
Forensic Files
The First 48
The Keepers
Narcos
Making a Murderer
OJ Simpson

And my favorite podcast- My Favorite Murder!!
Making a Murderer

I didn't want to give Jailbirds a chance but I binge-watched the whole season. It's so good, can't wait for season 2! LOL

"Lockup" is the best show in terms of documentary. "Jail Birds" new to Netflix is a good show too.

My favourite fiction prison show is "El Recluso" aka "The Inmate" from Telemundo (or Netflix for non-Americans)

Lockup was a huge one, I got mad when they announced they were capping it at 25 years or however long it ran for, something like that. Lockup was a huge one for me, all of them... the extended stay series, Raw, all the different types of shows they did! This is how I learned about prison life when I first started writing and beforehand, I learned a few things from watching the inmates do featured segments on that show, not that I take anything said there as gospel but I did learn quite a bit over the years from watching that show!

I also enjoyed Behind Bars: Rookie Year, it gives you a real inside glimpse of what correctional officers face when they're new to the job, from their angle as opposed to the inmates, really interesting and exciting.

I also really like Beyond Scared Straight (which also was discontinued a few years ago), because those inmates participating are trying to help keep kids they don't even know from making the same choices and ending up where they are. I know that Scared Straight programs still run across the U.S., but unfortunately that show has ended, so it's just not being filmed anymore. It ran for like 7-8 seasons, and I have a couple penpals from that show.

I also like The First 48, that show is fascinating, following law enforcement for the first 48 hours after a crime to piece together who was responsible and what happened. But I don't watch it at night because it kinda makes me nuts trying to sleep afterwards thinking about some of the cases, LOL.

Cool topic, I've seen alot of what's been mentioned as well!

For me I don't tend to watch a lot of crime/prison docuseries, so a lot of these are going to be fictional. So, here we are—

Wentworth (I once skipped the first half of my classes to finish binge-watching Season 1 of this—I don't like Orange is the New Black, but I do like this one.)

Law & Order: SVU

The Killing

Top of the Lake

American Crime was good for me also.

And the classic, Criminal Minds.
