what do you write about?

I was fortunate to find a PP with the same interests as I have, so we can talk a lot about sports, like college and pro football and basketball. He is also an avid reader and so am I, so we are always talking about the books we read. I also belong to a fitness club, so we can talk about working out. We just seem to have so much in common, so I am never at a loss as to what I can write.

I pretty much write whatever pops into my mind. I'll answer any questions they ask, talk about what's going on in my life-jokes I've heard etc. I don't structure my letters very free form and they seem to like it that way.:D

I only have one pp now, no "special" guy. We are pp's only. He's alot older than I am but still we find plenty to talk about. He works at the prison doing counselling so alot of what we talk about is his work and mine. I send him interesting news items and things I can copy off the net. I have sent crossword puzzles and I keep him posted on world events. We both like music so that's always a topic. He did not know who Bon Jovi was and I did not know who one of his favorite groups from the 50's was. We had a good laugh over that. He makes me laugh and he draws really great pics on every envelope.
I don't think that you have to plan on what to write. Just write whatever you feel like and don't worry too much about it. What looks to be not interesting to you will probably make his day.

I write about my daily happenings, with 5 kids, theres never a dull moment. We talk about his family and whats goign on with them. I write about my school and recent projects im working on, new songs I have heard. I will often send him song lyrics to songs he likes but doesnt know the words to, just random stuff, whatever comes to mind. At times he will send a special request letter, like recently, he asked me to write him why I chose to write him and what made me keep writing and things like that.

Lizie, in the early stages of a pp friendship most of us tailor our words and subjects carefully -- just like we watch our behaviour carefully when we first meet a person. Being able to write 'mindless chitchat' comfortably, and have the penpal enjoy it and write back the same way is a sign of a genuine, really personal friendship. Don't mess around with it. :):):):)

I write about all kind of things - what I've done of the past few days, things I've seen on TV/in the news and also I sometimes mention topics that have been written on here, like I wrote to my pals about having mcdonalds in prison and asked them what they thought of it....also I include lots of jokes/funny stories which I sometimes mention in my letters as well.

Lie in general my job whats going on inside and outside its funny how the things we find boring are so interesting to them.

Same with me I write about news, whats going on in my life, the weather and whatever I am thinking about. As time goes on it gets easier to write as you get to know one another!

Whatever is going on in my life, news items that may be of interest, items that they've asked me to research for them, etc. For most of them, it's gotten easier as time goes by.
