Get safe, USA!! Protect yourself from the maple coated moose-munching iceholes!!

I had forgotten he was the wall guy until it came up on here...but we were just having a laugh at his expense tonight... 2% in New Hampshire...time to pull out....

Suggestion for a Safer America: don't elect Ben Carson

The man who can't put Uzbekistan on a map. I can't believe a man of science as a doctor can be so willfully ignorant. It's the special kind of happy clap nonsense evangelicalism that is out there in the world. However, the Republican candidates go from bad to worse, it's really scrapping the barrel and after 2 resounding election defeats I'm still not sure why the Tea Party movement remains so strong in the United States? As I said previously, I have no strong allegiance with party politics what so ever, I don't believe the modern two party system works, don't take me as being anti-republican, or anti-democratic. I'm neither here nor there. If I was in America I probably wouldn't be voting on the candidates who are looking likely to get up, but it's too early to tell who will win and the actual vote is still more than a year away.

To be fair to Donald I believe he said he only supports the Mexican wall...he doesn't think the Canadian wall is necessary. HAHA!

I forget who that was that thought it was necessary... Ben Carson?

The draft takes on a whole new meaning in this war! :D

Sign me up for double duty! :drunkburp:

How many days do you think it will take to collect an adequate building supply of empties?
It's like a new age war effort - every Canadian must drink their part!

It would be a great infrastructure project to help out all of out of work oil field workers that have been reduced to only owning 2 trucks.

I guess the couple that I used to live near with his and her hummers parked in the drive way (and a smart car...you know... for being environmentally friendly) proooooooooobably had to downsize to just one hummer?

Bahaha good luck with that. It'd be a cold day in hell before Canadians would pay for a ridiculous unnecessary wall.

But I guess... that wall works both ways....so....*gets my purse*

It's also hilarious the biggest advocate of the wall was Scott Walker, who has since dropped out of the race.

Apparently in New Hampshire it was a major issue??? JoshA, what are you crazy Maritimers doing to poor New Hampshire?!!?

While under the influence of Alpine beer, several Maritimers stuck a Canadian flag up the nose of the Old Man of the Mountain, eh? ;)

Well, it is true that I do lay awake at night thinking "Those damn Candadians...always up there, so quiet, so perfect, plotting against me I'm sure of it..."

So yes, wall it is. All our problems are SOLVED!!! Why didn't I think of it myself? The Canadian Wall!

Yeah, that. I just don't think he can win the middle and I would be very entertained to find out what his strategy is and which states he intends to go through to get there if he does win selection.

JoshA

All these young kids that believe that Sanders can win through the middle, honestly I don't belAieve there is enough of them, that have their wits about them, particularly with what the right think about universal healthcare and education. I think Clinton has a far better chance of beating the Donald than Sanders ever will and Clinton has much more of a presence in the right than Sanders will also. I am not an American though, so what I think is kind of irrelevant. However, I think the Sanders camp are in just as much of a lullaby state as anyone who ever though McCain could get up and look what happened.

All opinions are valid even then they are wrong :)

Earthmother

Just for the record and I know many Americans won't believe this because it's fed into your minds that it IS a pipedream; but Bernie Sanders platform when compared to the current Canadian system is VERY similar to what we have.

It's not a pipedream. His idea for how society can work IS possible because many nations, mine included, already have a situation similar to that working at present.

(In the comparison chart I saw his platform is slightly less progressive in a couple of spots and slightly more progressive in a couple of spots so it is not a perfect parallel however in general... it's very on par)

It really saddens me that Americans have bought into the "we're the greatest" idea so hard that any change...any difference required...any learning from other nations seems like hooey and a pipedream. America CAN be great again... but Americans have to be willing to learn from the world...and make the changes. You're deceived into believing that you're all middle class...when that's not the truth. The gap between rich and poor is dramatic and growing rapidly. More and more people are being left behind. There are more than enough dollars available to fund a more equal situation. Taxing the extremely wealthy would go a long way to providing social safety nets that would keep people with a basic quality of life.

I know the American dream is a big deal... but... sometimes it's nice to live in a place where everyone matters...where you're all contributing to the common good.

With Bernie... Americans would get a taste of what that mentality can do. With Trump, big business continues to rule ... the rich get richer...and more people continue to fall behind.

Just my 2 cents ...

The fact that Sanders believes he can win the middle ground between Democratic Party voters and Republicans is a pipe dream. If Sanders wins the primaries the Democratic Party is going to sleepwalk itself into a major election loss. Clinton is the candidate the Democrats need but she just doesn't have the legs to get over the hum.

I am not sure I agree with you. If it comes down to Sanders/Trump I feel that Sanders will take it. A Clinton/Trump election might be another story.

Saskatchewanian

The question I pose to you is it working in Canada?

I wrote an elaborate response but...I'm not sure it matters. So I will just say, in general I would say, yes.

These Sanders voters don't know what's good for them and they think they can throw up a candidate that is even more radical than a young Barack Obama. Sanders will never win the middle ground in the United States. If it came down to the conference I'd be putting it to Sanders just how in the hell and with what road map does he actually think he'll ever get through America to win office. I see more chance of snowflakes in hell. If I were Clinton I'd be riding that one all the way to the democratic super PACs.

One thing I will say, even younger men who became a President within the first term they age fast. I know how Bernie stands,he is fragile.

I am not going to debate another country on what I believe as a voter. I have not decided who I will end up voting for I know I have ruled out 5 so far. As far as who I like or vote for is no one business anyhow.

I'm certainly not a fan of Sanders, he is selling pipe dreams( looks like he's at deaths door). Hillary belongs in prison. We have enough officials who belong in prison already, why would I elect one in?

Yeah the bigger the the pipe dream, lol Nothing is free

The mega-military complex that gobbles up all your tax dollars sure isn't. Just a PART of that money could give health care and great education to your countryfolk. Instead it is used to pay for thousands of folk to sit around in bases allover the world. I'm not arguing for an end to military or attacking service staff, I am just pointing out that this is where most tax money goes, it is not in aid, or education or food stamps. It's on the military complex. Which, by the way, generates billions and billions in profits for a select few companies.

There is coffee, wake up and smell it.

Sporadium

Non sense pure non sense.

Rich already give to charities (willingly), plenty more than the average folks could. Rich create jobs. Any employer has to match the tax we as individual have to pay when payroll is done. etc etc etc. The rich can take their companies out of this country & get cheaper labor already which screws us out of jobs. Maybe to your country huh?

As an American keep our jobs here. For the legals not those who come here illegally.

It is nonsense that there is a terrible gap between a tiny few who have all and the other group who have little? Really? When a handful of people control more wealth than many countries while their compatriots go to substandard schools, are paid appaling wages, staff are allowed little time off and run into the ground so profit margins can be increased? There is a shocking, shocking disparity of quality of life and it grows. It has been proven and been proved to have continued to grow every year since WW2. WW2 is said to made the distribution of wealth more even- this resulted in the roaring 1950s when jobs were plentiful and many people had cash in their pockets. Since then the gap has been widening. Isn't political change needed?

The rich do take their companies overseas- doesn't that just show how little the care. It is all about bottom lines. This is fine, they are companies and business people and that is business. But society is society, not business. Governments must help companies, but their primary duty is to the good of the people.
Why are some people in the US so unwilling to look to other countries and say "yep, thats a fair system that does good for its people".

And about rich people giving to charity.........please! Everyone does, that's not a reason for anything.

whitediamonds

I would add that the bigger pipe dream is believing the extreme wealthy, companies and corporations act in the best interests of society. Shouldn't working people support candidates that want companies to be answerable to government rather than government answerable to companies?

Also, when you look at charts of countries that top charts of education, equality, happiness and so on, isn't it countries that have these "pipe dream" style governments.

Yeah the bigger the the pipe dream, lol Nothing is free

whitediamonds

Pipe dreams, really? The distribution of wealth is disgusting. Couldn't you say the rich steal from the poor every second of everyday?

Anyway, it's not about anyone stealing from anyone. It's about trying to develop a fairer society. Not a society where the winner takes everything and then continues to take everything. Everything is geared towards furthering the interests of a select few.

Non sense pure non sense.

Never said there wasn't nutters on both sides. Republicans seem far more "out to lunch" and removed from reality than others though. Politics is corrupt in many countries but American politics does seem particularly rotten.
You do not need to mention notorious democrats when I mention republicans. I am neither republican nor democrat (though I would mention that the bad "demos" you mentioned were running to be president). I am not fan of Trump, Cruz or Clinton. However, I do like Sanders. If you look at his history, his performances over time, he has also stood up for people, for society and truly believes with a passion in what he is doing and saying. I think he really has the good of society at heart whereas other groups seem to only represent a certain small faction yet manage to dupe others into believing that they will represent them and serve their interests.

Demo, Rep's

Street dead ends into a Y go right or left choice. One way takes us to the jokers the other street takes us to the clowns.

Happy voting !!!

AussieGuy

Politics is a mugs game, I studied it at university, I have no interest of interning with a political party what so ever. The people that make a difference are the ones that actually put the legislation before the parliament/government. Those who have sat there and watched what these clowns are paid to do in parliament know they are not the ones that make a difference. That's where I diverged towards working in the public/civil services, where you can actually propose legislature that will make a difference. Even the most well intentioned politician gets about 3 terms on average to make a difference between either losing selection, or losing office which is why I will never sit on the other side of the fence in running for public office.

The people in power never really are the ones you voted for it's the thankless civil/public servants you've never heard of that put legislation where it is, these guys are just the equivalent of used car salesman, or making politics on the run (Barack Obama)

Sporadium

Example many folks think those who write inmates, marry or visit them are nutters.

Yeah, I know I see that here all the time those Republicans. I hate to tell you but there are extreme nutters in both parties.

This thread people are hoping it will not turn out like Waco, well guess who had the authority to stop the way it was handled? A Demo. Who was President then name Bill Clinton.

Many officials in Chicago were in office are now serving time in prison, all demos & only 1 Repub. A Demo murdered President Lincoln.

Also as far as race & blacks topic that came up here too on this thread.. 620,000 white men died to free slaves.

Never said there wasn't nutters on both sides. Republicans seem far more "out to lunch" and removed from reality than others though. Politics is corrupt in many countries but American politics does seem particularly rotten.

[QUOTE=AussieGuy;1177556]There's also the general phrase that jumping out of a perfectly good plane is madness. I developed a fear of heights when I was a teenager and tripped and grabbed onto the railings of the balcony in a rental apartment. Well, parachuting is something I haven't done yet, the rest I've caught up on and learned the enjoyment of these things also.

Try it parachuting, now that's a high.
