I recently was paroled after serving 7 years.  I was out on bond for 2 years before I was finally sentenced.  I delayed the inevitable hoping the DA would agree to give me probation, but due to my past convictions, he said I wasn't eligible for probation. But I was on bond and I was determined to ride it out as long as I could. But I didn't prepare . I think the reason I didn't get my affairs in order was because if I did that, then that meant I was accepting I was going to prison for a long time. I had dogs, had them for 10 years, I couldn't bare to give them up, I didn't even try to find them a home.  They went to the shelter when I was arrested, probably were euthanized.  I had a house full of furniture and clothing that was left there for my so called family and the local hood rats to help themselves too. Now I am wearing someone elses clothes, borrowed of course.  My advice is get your affairs in order, because once you are arrested it will be too late. Its a different world in there.  Nobody much wants to help you when your in jail.  Get some money together, because to live comfortable you have to have money, jail isn't free. And finally, its hard when you first go in. Your devastated, angry and scared.  But the sooner you accept you have no control and if your ever gonna get out on parole you must submit to the rules because their are no breaks on disciplinarys in there. And writes ups will keep you there. Its their party, and you are there to be controlled and to conform and you will or else. But, it can do you some good too and yeah it really stinks to be in jail, but your there for a reason. Accept your fate, do what you need to do and get out and start over again. Prison has become a american culture.  Everyone knows someone thats been in the joint.  But it doesn't have to be who you are, its just something you did.
