Hi and welcome to the forums,
you know, I don't think it sounds crazy. A lot of us writing here on the forums (and probably also some of those who are just reading without posting do so as well) are writing to one or more inmate/s. It may be unusual to others, perhaps also to those you're usually spending your time with, but, you know... not everything or everyone doing or being unusual is crazy. So, you might just give it a try, browse through the ads and find someone to write.
If you not sure whether it might be sth. for you or not, you might perhaps choose someone with a shorter term. That way you can look whether writing to inmates is sth.you'd like to do, for it is some kind of a commitment and not necessarily made for those who get easily bored. Thus, a short termer might just be a good start, because you give a commitment of your time, but if it's not your cup of tea you can easily stop again without causing too much hurt for anyone. And should you discover the enrichment of it and love doing it, you could still take another one (or a long termer) later.
Good luck in finding someone and happy writing,
Kirsten

Hi there,
Inmates don't have access to this forum so the best way to find someone to write to is by clicking the main menu and heading to the inmate profiles section. Then you can select criteria from there about your potential pen pal. I'd suggest going to the MainMenu of the Write a Prisoner site, click Home and then down to the FAQ (frequently asked questions) to read up a little more on how this process works.
Happy writing!
