Hi! I am new around here and I have written my first letter to an inmate but now I have a doubt...
At his profile at WAP it says his crime was murder but now I have checked his profile at Illinois jail's web and it says: 1st degree murder BUT also this: "Sex Offender Registry Required"...
Do you know what that means?
Thanx!!!
Last post
I dont have a clue, but i would of thought it meant he had to register on the sex offender list once he is released, but i doubt he will be released if he is in for 1st degree murder??
Oh, that could be it!
He is being released on 2019 which is kind of strange taking into account he's in for murder...Very strange...
1st degree murder out in 2019 where did you read this? how long has he been down? sorry im just being my nosey self.
I replied in your other thread. :)
UKGAL, his release date is published at both WAP and Illinois Prison web... Awkard, isn't it?
MIRROR MAN, I saw your other reply, thanks! I published twice by error..."newie error" haha :giggle:
Oh, and he's been down for 11 years... Maybe it was 1st degree murder of a cat... haha
20 years for 1st degree murder and a sex offence, seems pretty light sentence to me are you sure its not a chance of parole in 2019?? he must of had a good lawyer.. did he actually commit the crime or just there? sorry so many questions but im very curious:-)
Hi UKGAL, Oh, I am sorry, maybe I am not understanding the meaning of the legal terms of his profile because here in Spain things are named under different expressions so I have to get used to US terms... Let's see, his profile says Projected Parole: 2019 / Projected Discharge: 2022... I am not sure what this means..
That means that he is eligible for parole (supervised early release) in 2019. He may get out of prison at that time, and may not. It depends on his behavior and the opinion of the parole board. He will have completed his sentence entirely in 2022, and will be released from prison if not paroled by then.
thats still a short sentence tho isnt it. Im shocked.. but depending on his sex offence he may not get out alive anyways..
Being labelled a sex offender doesn't necessarily mean 'rapist' or 'child molestor'... He could have been charged with statutory rape (dating a minor, even while still technically a minor himself), lewd conduct (peeing behind a bush or behind a car on the side of the road), or various other offenses that didn't involve actual sex or sexual conduct.
I know thats why i said DEPENDING on.
Well then maybe I should READ your entire post before replying. ;)

thank you....
First off, if his victim was under 18, that may be the reason why he is classified as a sex offender. The other scenario would be that he committed a sex crime prior to the murder. Regarding his sentencing, Illinois inmates only had to serve 50% of their time for murder if they were convicted in the mid-90's, I don't remember exactly when. After that, they switched it to serving a hundered percent of the time. Therefore he may have gotten sentenced to a forty year sentence in the mid-90's and therefore only had to serve 20 years. Other than that, the minimum time to serve on a murder is 20 years.
In Illinois they have a murder regestery as well I do not know much about this at all but I do know that they have one I guess it is in the sex offender regestery
