My loved one is in MIU and has lost all privileges of phone, japay emails ect. Does this ususlly include snail mail? if so i think that is pretty crazy.. the zero contact really sucks plus i do not fullly understand what miu is and no help from the internet

No.   Nothing revokes snail mail access.  The right of prisoners to receive US mail correspondence has been litigated in court.  I can't find the exact court case right now, but it was found that correspondence with the outside world is protected by their First Amendment freedom of speech.
