Great news:finally I have got my first letter from my first pp!I have sent him my letter on Feb 4th and received his answer just yesterday 25 of March! From Wichita to Beijing took only 9 days!I was surprised to find prison chop:letter unchecked, because he is in El Dorado Maximum Custody Unit and normaly all mail should be cencored, well that means he is on his best behaviour! Well.. Kansas is quiet but I do have a pp too in Kansas ..

I didn't know you could buy him electronics.
Well, as for the return address ... she doesn't seem to have pbms with that anymore maybe she wrote it in Chinese ?

I've gone through Kansas once .. a long time ago !

Most of the time in Kansas DOC outgoing mail is not censored unless the prisoner is on a "censor list". And they have to notify the prisoner that their outgoing mail is being censored. Supposedly by law they are not to censor outgoing mail unless they notify the prisoner they are on the censor list. Hence the stamp "NOTICE: This correspondence was mailed from an institution operated by the Kansas Department of Corrections. It's contents are uncensored."
Also you can not send in stamps or any writing supplies. ...or put a "lipstick kiss" on the letter. I recently had mail sent back from Norton Correctional Facility for having perfume sprayed on it but I've never had that problem with any other facility in Kansas. I have also not had a problem in any facility with stamps or colored/decorated stationery or cards with glitter.
I have never even tried to send cards with sound or lights or music-anything like that. I hope this is informative for some body.:fall:

He sent me canteen price list and finally got the money for the postage. In Kansas facility will not notify inmate about in coming funds from the outside! Must yourself let him know.Good thing that they only cut outside funds 10% for mandatory account. Can not send them blank writing paper as in the other States.

I printed my address inside my letter to him as well, but what happend with my returned address on envelope still puzzels me.I have received 4 letters from him all unchecked by CO/MO: there is a stamp on envelope "contents are uncensored". He said that mail is checked on random. As I new to them, maybe they hold my mail: time will tell.I understand that his level permits to buy electronics. Now from another Kansas blog I know that: 99$ for black/white TV, colour TV 200$, ear phones 20$: plan to send him 300$ and after deductions he will have something like 270$- will be enough. Thank you all for info.

i think your be looking at over 200$ now,not sure what package company they use sorry, was that your 1st letter that had no return address? how did he write you back?

if he is on max their prob reading his mail thats why it probably takes a little longer maybe? is he even allowed a TV on max?

He wrote to me that there was no return address on my letter to him: which I find very shocking, because in my head I do remember I did write it!!! May be I got too exited?I still can not get over it: what happend with me!The other thing that puzzels me that I get his letters after 9 or12 days , but my letters take 35 days to come to facility (El Dorado)! I want to buy him TV, now waiting for the price confirmation: any idea how much does it cost these days?

I write to a guy in Hutchinson, KS. I always put my return address at the top left of the envelope. Seems to get to him fine...I'm unsure of what the problem is with yours. Maybe because you're overseas?

I have received a letter and it says:'' do not forget to place your return address": my letter was rejected and was sent to his mom, then she send it back to him. But I did write my returned address!!! In the top left coner!Any ideas? Where it should be placed in accordance with Kansas prisons regulations, their web doesn't mentoned it...
