So here in the UK at the moment there's a massive trend with stress-relieving 'adult' colouring books (personally I love them!) I thought this would make a great potential token gift for a PP - particularly one who is in to art and self-help type stuff. I had a couple of reservations however... not least sending a big, burly bloke in prison a 'colouring book'! But I had a look through and there are some nice, masculine options that are quite technical and don't necessarily say 'colouring book' on the cover. I have found plenty on Amazon so my main question is, any ideas if they'll be accepted? And also, can we send in colours or markers if they're from Amazon...I'm assuming not, but would they have access to them if not? Otherwise it's a pretty pointless offering.

Thanks in advance

It is important to go for the best online therapy websites when you want to avail of therapy sessions with online therapists and to know about online therapy prices. It is a fact that the Internet has indeed changed the way people communicate, both those in person and online. Online therapy can be accessed from any part of the world, whereas the only barrier is that you have to make a telephone call to make an appointment with a therapist. But with instant messaging and chat rooms becoming a rage with people from all parts of the world, it is now possible to make a personal appointment with any therapist across the globe. Online chat rooms and websites have become the best online therapy websites.

I think it's going to be really specific prison to prison as to whether it will work or not to send a book like that. I know some people have successfully sent books on tats to prisoners before.

Ah, thanks both! Yes I love these books but same as you gooddog I don't get much time to enjoy them (although I really should make time, as that is sort of the point, lol). So glad I asked because some of the ones I was looking at were specifically 'tattoo' style which I liked personally being a bit of a tattoo addict myself and thought they'd be good for a guy...didn't realise they wouldn't be allowed them simply based on that! Argh, so much to consider. I'm actually still awaiting responses from my first letters (impatiently, clearly! lol) so yes once I have established PPs it will be easier to ask what I can and can't send. Just happened to think of them and go 'ooo, that could be a good idea for Xmas, etc'! They have some really pretty ones as well so I hope the lady I wrote to also responds... I may not have time for them but hopefully they might give someone else some joy! :D

I've never sent a colouring book, but I've sent puzzle books from Amazon before and they have gone through. Markers and/or colouring pencils from Amazon won't be permitted though (not to my knowledge anyway). Some prisons allow art supplies to be sent in via specific providers ( California and Illinois come to mind) but that may count as a package and inmates are often only allowed one package per quarter, so it may prevent their family from sending them a regularly scheduled package. Many commissaries do have coloured pencils on offer, and you may be able to find an online copy of the commissary list for the particular prison your pal is in.

It's a huge trend here as well. I have a few myself. I try to not buy more because I don't actually have time to do it, lol. I've sent a few of the colored pages to prisons with varying results. Some make it in others get rejected as having a greasy substance. (colored pencil)

I don't believe you can send art supplies of any kind, the only thing that I know that can be sent are books, magazines, calendars (to some) and stationery (to some). I think the hobby supplies have to come in their packages and that's a whole other level of gifting. Don't do it arbitrarily, sometimes they have family that does and they're only allowed certain amounts a year, etc. I think those sorts of supplies might be available for them to buy but they have to be prison approved of course. They would know, ask them.

That's a really good question if a book like that would be accepted. I'm sure it would be appreciated by some but really not sure if it would be accepted. I'm sure it could somehow be misconstrued to have something to do with tattoo designs, which might be a no-no for some prisons.

I would ask your pp, after explaining what it is. They might not even know what it is since it's a fairly new trend and not to confuse kiddie coloring with how intricate these designs really are.
