It could after all be a room
But in prison it is actually bars
It must be because of the nakedness
The play between i see you
And i don't see you at all
To be a prisoner is to be visible but not known
Someone is often too close to you and too far
And then touched by power
Known and invisible
The mechanics of oppression
Gravel by gravel building around you
No, this is not gravid
It is quite barren, barred,
And in need of barricade
Society sterilizes itself
To keep you out, in, nobody knows
Say, no, i am not barred,
Don't you see the irony?
I am marred
Stranded
And sometimes, when the guards look the other way
On my way,
Down a path,
All of my own.
