I have been writing a prisoner. We talk On the phone and email through Corrlinks. However, all of the sudden, my mail is being returned as "prisoner to prisoner contact". I am not a prisoner and have never been a prisoner. Does anyone know how this can be straightened out? Do I need to do something or does my pen pal. I have a very common name. I don't know if that could be the problem. My pen pal still wants to continue our friendship. I don't know what to do. Any help would be appreciated.

That straight up sounds weird. Maybe your name, if you say it's common, has them confused with someone who is a prisoner??? I've never heard of this happening either.
The facility doesn't sound like they're being very cooperative, maybe you need to go higher up.
Thanks. I sent the federal form. It said the response time is at least twenty days. I tried calling the prison, but the person answering the phone gave me the impression that she wasn't going to let me talk to anyone else. I looked at the policy on prisoner mail and saw that they are required to send me an explanation along with an appeal form. The person I spoke to would only say that my P.O. Box was likely someone who corresponded with a prisoner of the previous owner ran a halfway house or mental health home. I asked if I could use a different return address and she said that would be fine. I didn't want them to think I was trying to get around their security. The odd thing was that some mail was getting through. I'd test the it, but don't like waiting for my mail to bing bang around the country forever. The prisoner also got push back from the facility. They acted as if she was accusing them of not knowing how to do their jobs, and like my contact with them, case closed, end of story. I am waiting on an email response since there must be some way for me to prove I am not a prisoner, nor am I acting as a go between for two prisoners to communicate. They should at least have to provide me with whatever they are using against me.
Hi @Myjeremy - Wow! I never heard that one before! If it were me, I'd call the facility and ask to speak with someone in the mail room, ideally the supervisor, or even the assistant warden if you want to go up the ladder. If it's federal, I'd also use the contact form on their website to report the issue. Your inmate can also bring this up with their unit manager or counselor. Hope it all sorts out soon.
