Hi, so I have a weird question about mailing.
Can we send to our PP a "fake" flight ticket ?
he told me that he wanna see the world, so I came up with this idea to send him each month pictures and informations a map about a country and a little story like if we really travelled. but, when I was doing my research I find a site where you can fake a flight ticket and I thaught it'll be fun. what do you think about it? Can I send this? what about the pictures, anything specific? limit?Actually, he's in Telford unit,Texas.
Thanks and sorry my english is awful

Mine is also there. Received an mail today but went to this page trying to get some ideas.

Thanks all of you! I'll try sending him a super simple one with very little folds first. See if that passes. My guy is in Menard CC Illinois. Their website is utter **** and there's no approved mailing list.
Maybe I'll try a more complicated one later :)

See if he likes this!

I've sent my man multiple origami figures and they all went through, they never got unfolded or anything. So it is possible to send them, it just really depends on the facility (and the person in charge of the mail-room on that particular day) (This was in NC by the way) :D But as Schavuit said, you can also fold it, then unfold it and send it to him along with instructions on how to fold it back :D

Schavuit

I can imagine that the officer checks if you hid something in the figure and unfold it. I don't think he will fold it back in shape again.

I sent my penpal an orgigami figure with christmas. I just folded the figure myself, then unfolded it and send it in a letter along with a description. I thought it was easier to understand the description if I showed the folding lines already.

Highjacking this thread for a new 'is this allowed?' question.

I've been thinking about something other then the usual card/ letter/ book routine to send my pen pal and I came up with something I think might actually pass security.
I was thinking of sending him a little origami figure. If you're not too sure about what Origami is, here's a link https://www.google.nl/search?q=origami&rlz=1C1KMZB_enNL511NL511&espv=2&…

Would this be allowed? Obviously I'll make him one thats more or less flat so it fit's in a regular envelope.

I've sent a few into different prisons: AZ- they took it a part, CA-no issues, OH-they took it a part, CO- returned

*anything with that many folds its going to bring attention as they would want to check for any contraband

Saiar I think that really depends on what facility/state he is in?
Is there an approved list on the website or something?

I'm not that experienced with writing but one would thing a piece of folded paper is fine since you can also send newspaper cutouts and stuff. I mean as long as you don't make it knife shaped or anything.. ;)

I've send maps of the area I live, just a google print out. But I've also sent maps of Houston and it all goes through. And then I got him some pictures of me in the area of the prison and he got them. I guess when you're not sure if you can send something; just do it and see what happens. It wouldn't get your pp in trouble if that's what you're worried about. If it doesn't go through he is notified and given the option of having it destroyed sent back to you with his own stamps. Fake tickets should be fine though, especially if you copy them.
Note: this is for TX where your pp is, I don't know about other states.
I had a letter back in my mailbox because I sent along a map that showed Italy. I mean, Italy is quite well known, the boot, Rome, but they sent it back.
So better send it separately, or with a short note.

I did sent photos of airplane tickets without any problem, but of course my name was on the ticket.
so I was more thinking about something like that 😥

what do you think about?

depending on the prison basic maps like the ones you use for scrap booking are allowed, but only if they are of a foreign country. ie..if you sent a friend in CA a map of the south korean subway kind of thing. but it depends on the prison

One other thing you can do..it create the page and print it out...then take a photo and mail the photo in a different letter...so if they page is rejected at least he/she will have the photo of the page.

yes!!! really good idea thanks Fairy but another question my english is bad what's exactly scarpbook ???

LostFairy

thanks a lot guys :D :D I'll let you know how it did go ;) and I think I'll write in the back of the ticket that it's a fake one. hope it'll get through

A map of a foreign country would be fine. Like someone said, do it like a scrapbook page. Make the pages on your computer and print it out. I've done it before. Sent it to Polunsky.

rainy daze

I hope they allow you to do it, that's a nice idea :)

Earthmother

Like Fairy says, I suspect it depends upon the map you are trying to send.

If you're sending one of Tasmania, they'll probably let it go through.

If you're sending one that details all the streets and roads, and highlight the bus stops/train stations in bright colours in the area around the prison where he is located, then they'll probably not allow it :rollinglaugh:

LostFairy

prison rules are so complicated F**** !!!!

that is the idea, so that people will give up. Don't let it get to you, once you get the hang of it, it will be a breeze

LostFairy

... hm... are maps allowed... I feel like I remember seeing something in my mail rules about maps...

You can, but you would have to do it as a scrape book style page.

Mixology

"maybe" the fake ticket if its obvious its fake but id call to be sure. Maps? Probably not. Even drawn maps ive read can be rejected.

I could be wrong! Don't take my word for it, just check in on it on the prison's mailing rules.
