Well, I just didn't see any information about this on the State website of my pp. I am wondering if anyone has had problems (or luck for that matter) with putting self adhesive return address labels being returned by the prison. I sent off a letter to my pp this last weekend, and it just dawned on me, this may not be allowed. I guess I will find out if it comes back. It seems to me they are no different than self adhesive envelopes and stamps...but, you just never know.

Yes. He told me the envelope was ripped and that there was a alot of tape holding it together, but I don´t think that happened there. He is in Texas.

I´m not sure about all these rules. Honestly. It says you have to write your PP´s name and number on every letter and picture you send. I did this all the time until my PP told me"hey you don´t need to do that". Before I had sent him a pile of about 80 pics, his name and number written on every single one of them (doing that really really sucked!!!) :gagme:. Since then, I haven´t done that and he nevertheless gets all the pictures.

wonderfulmarri…

I don't do that either on all letters and they always get there. I've been told by someone from the mailroom before even if there is not sender on the envelope, they still get it.

I was always to afraid too put anything on there other then address. I placed a sticker, a smiley face, and it was returned to me. I was like, omg!!! so, i used a pen and drew the smiley faces, hehehhehe, teach them lol

i can answer the reason why they sent the envelope with the sticker.
for one the sticker would be considered contraband and if caught with it would get in trouble.
another reason why they dont allow stickers like that is because of potential drug. it's been seen that you can put certain drug on the back of the sticker. hard to bealeve but hey im not the one making this up lol
thanks

Thanks for that smiley i called the mail room today and they said the inmate would still get the mail but i will drop him a card in the interim to explain just in case. :-)

I too once forgot to put details on a calender sent, and when i told my mate over the phone he was QUICK to let it be known to the mail room. Long story, but the person contacted in the sorting room was really good, and he also received the item, but it had a little stick it note on it saying i did this for her, not you....LOL :D

I have never had any problems with self-stick labels on envelopes. Many peel them off and use them back to me. :elefant:

Every prison has the policy of no delivery if return addresses are not on the envelopes, but in saying that i guess it depends on if it goes noticed, and who sorts on the day.

Gerri

oops i mailed 2 letters today and yesterday and forgot to put my name and address on the back will they get rejected ??

I've never had a problem using them on my envelopes & I write to several different states as well. Try it see what happens I guess. Or if you're really unsure & afraid of pp not getting it - just hand write your info on it for safety's sake.

Blessings,

Greyson

So far I have not had any problems, I use them for all my penpals and have never had one sent back or not reach the PP for that reason. I have about 7 PPs all together in various states. So my GUESS would be it is not a problem with them, but like smiley said each prison is different.

From my understanding it is not a problem they will tear off the section of the letter as they do with stamps in most facilities, but honestly all facilities and states have a rule unto their own most of the time i have come to realize, and also what one will pass through at the same prison another will not. Go figure! :dunno:
