hey everyone i just have a quick question. do you know those rubber bands that are shaped? i wanted to send my fiance tom one (hes in iowa dept of corrections) just thought it would be kind of cute. do u think they would allow it?

The no rubber band thing has nothing to do with how cute it might be. Rubber bands can be used to make tattoo equipment. They can also be used to make a grippable handle on a shank.

If you tried posting last week, there were some issues with the forum that prevented people from getting into the subforums and posting threads. It should work for ya now.

Wish him luck on the release!

Generally speaking the prisons don't like anything cute. No homemade cards, no stickers on the letters, some don't even allow letters written on colored paper.

I hope you get in to see him soon.

Oh... and welcome to the site :)

It looks like the Iowa DOC only allows personal property purchased at the canteen, with the exception of publications. If you put rubber bands in the letter, they'd probably be considered contraband.
