Why can we only email once a month to more than one inmate in America

Hello, Thank you. The email forward option is a courtesy to WriteAPrisoner, a way to start correspondence with a penpal. It's for initial contact only. After that, you must find and pay your way to stay in contact with your penpal. That can be snail mail or institutional email (if available) Institutional emails are the likes of JPay, CorrLinks, Securus, etc. The State will have a contract with one of these and that is the one available, if they have any. In the inmate profiles, you can see, which one is used. Be aware, that some "emails" only work one way: you to them (e.g. JPay/Texas). Meaning your penpal has to write a letter and send it to you. Having to pay is discusting I has put me off for further contact It's a letter for goodness sake so why charge. I'm not going to be sucked into a scam because thats all it is. Inmates are suffering loneliness and hope that someone can afford a fee? Great idea but a big ripoff I'm sorry to the person I started communication with I refuse to pay Signed Very disappointed Dave

Hello Anonymous, thank you for your feedback and though we understand, our service is designed for inmates and pen pals being introduced. If we mailed all letters to all clients, our cost would have to be increased too much for our clients. Once you contact a client, there may be other options available that are low cost or free to you based on where they are and what they have available to them.
