Hi all,

I am fairly new to the site and was wondering if someone could shed some light on this. I am wanting to send my penpal some pictures of myself (just simple selfies ) and photos from my holiday. Am i able to just print some pictures off and include them with a letter or do i have to do it on JPAY? I am unsure how this works as i am from the U.K. If i am able to include pictures in my written letters, can i just simply print them on paper or is there specific requirements about pictures? Also how does JPAY work?

Thanks :)

Hi. You pay in $ and your card issuer make the currency calculation. You see it on your bank statement. :)

Hi, email me I will help you! I'm from the uk and speak to my prisoner through Securus! What's your email?

Oh and obviously select USA prior to Az!

I'm assuming they're in Arizona!?

If you just put your address in the first part of the payment info and then chose Arizona and a zip code from there (say 85629) then your normal card details it should go through. But do it through desktop on your phone browser and not the app itself (or you could try the app. I have a feeling it only works on desktop though for some reason!)

Hey! I'm from the uk too and wondering if anyone has used securus to email their inmate? I tried JPay but it said they've changed to securus and I can't buy stamps from the UK on that, my inmate has emailed me and I feel so bad because I can't reply

Shannon, there are limited options among email services for writing to prisoners, and it all depends on what's available at the specific facility they're in.  Feds uses Corrlinks, most states use Jpay, two or one-way.  If you can/want to use Jpay to correspond with your pen pal, the only way it works is by your buying stamps in advance to pre-load your account, and buying more stamps as you use them up sending letters.  You'll have to buy stamps separately from different states if you have pen pals in different states, i.e., I can't use the same stamps for a prisoner in MI as with a prisoner in FL.  There is no fee to subscribe or have access to JPay, only the fee to purchase stamps as-you-go.  Hope this clarifies it somewhat.

Hello, I got the Jpay app from the Playstore, and there I was able to upload and send pictures to my pen pal, it worked immediately. It's a great app from Jpay. Greetings from Germany.

Hiya I was just reading through this feed as I too am from the UK and am confused about JPay. So I understand there is a couple of email services that are approved by the prisons, however I went to log onto JPay and it says I have to buy stamps, is this so I can email? Also are the other email services free for me to use or is there a subscription fee/virtual postage fee?

Many Thanks

Shannon

As far as I know there are different rules when it comes to sending pictures through regular mail in each state (or facility). I've heard some facilities only accept pictures that are printed on regular paper, some accept normal photo paper, some have specific rules when it comes to the size of the pictures and I think all of them deny Polaroid pictures. I was told it's always better to write the inmates full name and DOC # on the back of the photo, so they don't get lost in the mail room and they always know which picture is meant for a certain inmate. I'm afraid you have to search for the picture regulations of your pp's facility by yourself. Just try to find some information on the facility's website. If you can't find any, it's always better to ask him or her if there's anything you need to pay attention to.

As for your other question how JPay works, you have to search for him by entering the state he is in and his DOC #. At least that's how I remember the process... he/she will get a notification, saying someone added him/her to their contact list and then they can send you an email; mostly they ask who you are or you can send them an email first.
you can also include pictures there by clicking "Attach photo" or something like that, you can send E-Cards and you can also send short videos. But I think that also depends on which prison they are in.
Hope that helped :)
