I sent email on December 8th and I’m still waiting. It’s been 1 month 2 weeks lol It depends on where you live, your penpal, and their facilities. If you sent it for the first time, it could take more time. Just be patient ^.^

Apparently...this site only sends e mails out twice a month...I ..think...7th and 23rd of month...then you can add on 3 to 4 days for mail..then...another few days for clearance through mail room..I think Frankie originally posted that info ..so maybe he can tell you more or uf I got this right..

Mail is sent out twice a month. If you want a faster response then you can choose a paid service such as Jmail, or one of the electronic options depending on whatever state they're in or federal which is Corlinks. States are a mixture of Corlinks, AccessCorrections or Jpay.
Aside from that you can go to your local post office and send them an old fashioned letter yourself. I prefer to use one of the options other than this site because the email/print out option here is a bit unreliable and there is no guarantee you will get a reply anyway.

i would contact write-a-prisoner and see if the inmate even recieved it. that's an awfully long time. the person could have missplaced it by accident, perhaps.

This site would have no idea if the inmate received it. They just drop letters in the mail.
On average, from within the United States, I usually get a reply about 1 month after I drop my letter in the mailbox.
I've also had several letters that never got any reply. I've mailed about 25 - 30 different women and only managed an ongoing pen pal relationship with 1/3 of them.

I made a profile for my son this morning. I can’t find it now. I can see a little account information, just that I opened a new profile but that’s all. No pictures show up. How long does it take to be approved, assuming that might be why I can’t find it ?

Yup, it needs to be verified and approved. It normally takes a few days up to a week at most, so it will appear soon.

Does their prison have jpay or corrilinks? That would be the fastest way to get in contact with them.

It sort of takes what it takes and depends upon how you sent them an email. This site sends emails twice a month on specific days, letters depend on where you are from and sending them to, plus the mailroom turnaround. I don't have experience with corrilinks or any other company other than Jpay. As of lately, either Jpay has been slow (which I suspect since it started after their upgrades) or it's the actual prison mailroom.

My experience - took two days to get a reply from JPay. I wrote regular postal letters and used the email on here as a heads up. The post took a week, and I had a couple replies, then two weeks later, more replies. The email system on here will often take a month or longer. Now it seems to take longer for post, but my pen pals and I write 8 page letters and include pictures, which slows things down, bigger letters are set to the side and checked. It just depends on the mail room, size of letter, etc. I’m sure the mail gets backed up often, then goes back to normal. Hope you get some awesome mail soon and have a great time pen paling! Everyone loves getting mail (-:

Thanks. I was debating about what to do. The inmate I want a "first contact" has a birthday next month. I may buy a card and mail it now via USPS. His birthday is around Easter.

What kind of picture can you send? I have quite a few on my phone. Can I just go to a place like Walgreens and have them print out one to include in my letter or card to the inmate? Thanks

Just a heads up pictures depend state to state. Some states like MI you have to print them out on regular plain computer paper. In some you can send regular 4x6 pictures. There is also often a limit to how many you can send at one time, this also varies state to state. I keep forgetting to do this, but many of our excellent members on here recommend putting the inmates name and number on the picture. I’m sure your pen pal will love them!!

Depends on where your sending it from. I'm in Scotland takes roughly snailmail a week.
Depends on the platform used; corrlinks pretty quick within a day in my experience, jpay can be quick in a day or over several days, GettingOut again depends.
Also depends on inmates commitments job/study/available time/participation in groups there are not aimlessly awaiting the next letter.
Also depends on inmates ability to find/purchase/barter for stamps.

Before you purchase a card, check with the prison to see what is acceptable. I use to send plain cards to OSP and the rules changed, where they could only be white cardstock with black writing. I had cards specially made in another country to adhere to the rules, and it changed again to no cards.

I got into the habit of photocopying a greetings card which is accepted in some states. It was colour but you will need to see what the facility allows.

The write prisoner community is the place where most of the people share their codes and all their programming-related skills. As by paper help, Their main purpose is to increase this 3D printing system and make people aware of it. If you want to be a part of it then this is necessary that you must log in here.
