hello everyone, I just send my first email via WAP mail to an inmate, but I didn't write my address in the mail just my e-mail. Does the WAP automatically include my home address? If not, what is my best option to get the information to my inmate?

Thank you!

Hi Kate,  my son is in prison in VA and they use Corrlinks for the federal prisons.  I know I had to get on the approved email list before I could email him and also receive emails from him.  Other than that you would need to write the inmate at their prison address.  I know the BOP now has inmates on lockdown and prisons are varying on their rules, for example my son is only allowed out 1 1/2 hours on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday due to the virus during which time they can answer their emails or make phone calls which again your number would have to be approved.  Try writing the inmate if they provide an address on the profile.  Good luck!  Debbie

Hi Kate.  The prisoners won't be able to respond to an email address, only to a postal mail address, as they don't have email in the way the rest of the world has it.  I'm not sure if your address is automatically included in the WAP letter, I think it might be but I'm unclear on it.  If you PP has JPay or you can write to them at their prison address, you can contact them independently again and send them the right address to write back to you in the body of your letter.  It might reach them sooner than your WAP letter, which can take up to a month to be delivered.  Good luck!
