Hi, im new to this and i emailed an inmate about 2 weeks ago. My questions are :
How long doe it generally take for the inmate to receive my email?

How does my inmate write back? Should i put money in his acct to be able to buy an envelope and stamps?

Any help would be appreciated!!

Search the site until you find an inmate you like.  Then write a letter.  The profile will give the inmate's complete mailing address.

Hi: Search the site for somoene you are interested in writing to and either use the e-mail feature or see if the inmate has a Jpay account and send your message that way. To use Jpay you'll have to sign up for it and buy stamps through their site to be able to send the letter. Good luck

Hi I'm new to this how do I start writing to somebody

I occasionally send my pen pals money.  I do this if they need stamps and sometimes as a birthday or Christmas present.  Mostly though they have no problem affording postage.

Hi and welcome!

If you used this website's email service; they print and forward the emails twice a month (on the 7th and 23rd) so it depends when you sent your email. Generally, it can take a few weeks up to a month or sometimes longer to receive a reply to a first letter. However, there have been some complaints about this email forwarding service not working well, so if you don't hear back at all, you may want to send another introduction letter by regular mail.

Your inmate will write back by snail mail. And no, you don't need to send money for stamps or an envelope; if someone has a pen pal profile you can assume he or she has writing materials and stamps.

Happy writing!
