I have received an unwanted letter from inmate, I’m assuming my address has been stolen or sold which really makes me feel uncomfortable. I no longer write the inmate anymore from this same prison, from which I received the letter. Can I contact the prison and make sure this person no longer writes me? or return to sender? Advise or suggestions, thanks in advance!

There are a couple things you can do here. Write "return to sender" on it and toss it back in the mailbox and hope he gets the hint; write him a letter explaining that you're not interested in corresponding with him; or contact the prison and let them know you don't want to receive any mail from him
see this kind of thing is what scares me. i decided to write to someone in the end but im nervous now about the privacy of my address.
There's a few things that may have happenws... The person that you write to may tossed your letters in the bin including your address. Prison trash is a means of transporting goods inside of the prison. Anything of worth will also be sifted out. That generally includes people's addresses. Addresses are of worth particularly to scammers. I would disregard the correpondence and pretend you never got it, if it continues you can strike a line through it and mark it return to sender... It will get a free return trip to the facility. If that doesn't get the point across you can call/email the prison mailroom and ask to be put on their "do not contact" list... any further correspondance from then on will result in a disciplanary strike...
I wouldn't worry about the correspondenc. Unless the live in the same state or a matter of hours away you have very little to worry about. No one is going to travel or parole out several hundred/thousand miles away where they don't know anyone, nor are they likely to end up on your doorstep asking for a cup of milk and some sugar. Most of them can't even cross state lines while out on parole.
I think you do not need to worry. Just don't reply, and you probably will never hear about him/her.
It's not wrong to not reply, as you haven't solicited this letter.
Just throw it away. Prisoners sometimes sell or give addresses to other inmates. It's happened to me 4 times. I just threw it away and never heard from the inmate again,.
This is why a P.O. Box would come in handy. Your real address is super secure, and if you don't want any unwanted letters, just toss them. :)
