I'm an ex-felon. I did time at Calhoun C.I. from 24 Jul 2009 - 21 Dec 2014. I know how letters to me made me feel. I was always excited when they called my name in the dorm for mail call. I'd like to do that for someone who is currently in prison. I have a rather large history; past life and its mistakes, current life and it's successes. I'd like to give back. Can former prisoners write to prisoners via this service? Thanks.

Hi Dave,
Yes, they can. I'm not sure if many do, but it's possible, for sure.
Good luck and Happy writing!
Kirsten
p.s: I think it's a great way to give back, so... shine on!
No one knows your history without you telling them and I doubt that they have the time or interest given the large volume of mail that they receive to work out who you are. If you want to write someone then go right ahead.
Alrighty, then. Thank you Kirsten and FrankieBones

Hey David, I think this is awesome of you to do this. You'll be able to offer them a deeper understanding than most people. Congrats on your successes.
It should be okay according to site policy and general law. If you're on parole it might be against the terms of your parole. You should check with your parole officer first if that's the case. If you are free and clear, then there's nothing to worry about.
