Hi everyone,

I hope you and your loved ones are in good spirits.
I have a question as regards Residential Re-Entry Centres (BOP).

My PP told me that for the final 6 -12 months of his term he will be in a halfway house, an RRC as BOP call it. His last known address is the way they decide where his RRC should be located.
Problem is, the nearest halfway homes to his address are in the heart of an LA ghetto, back with all the former gang associates and enemies, right back in the centre of a major problem. This will be detrimental to his undoubtedly as he'll have a few major problems. 1) Previous gang associates will expect him to come back and be loyal to them and re-engage in criminal activity, 2) enemies will still consider him a threat and, as he told me, he never used to walk anywhere without a weapon which he obviously has no desire to do now. 3) There is a real lack of opportunity in that area and unemployment is extremely high.

Does anyone know who to speak to in order to get his halfway home location altered to one just outside LA maybe, or even in the state where he is currently serving time (SC)? I live in the UK , so I don't have a US address for him to switch on his record.

Any advice would be fabulous. Ta muchly!!

She isnt out yet... She gets out this summer some time, however we are no longer writing. I dont know about that... It would depend I guess on how many RRC's are in the LA area...

Hmmm, tis indeed a ridiculous state of affairs. Sorry to hear about your PPs experience. How did she fare in the end? Do you know whether changing his address to one in a different area, but still in LA, may alter the halfway house location?

His last known address is the way they decide where his RRC should be located.

FBOP will send them back to their city of origin only. I went through this with a former Fed pp... She wanted to get away from Salt Lake City, and the people she ran with there, but the BOP said no way. It makes no sense I know to thrust people right back where their problems originated, but that is their policy...
