Hello,

I am in the UK but have a US phone number via an app. When registering my number I need a state ID or drivers license, which obviously I don't have. Is there any way around this that anyone can help me with?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Zannah,

Thank you for your reply. When I wrote that question I was terribly naive and didn't understand the system yet. When I looked into it properly I realised there was no way I would be able to speak on the phone nor would I do anything to jeopardise anything happening to my pp. The wording of it wasn't great either but I didn't mean get around it as in something unlawful, I meant is there a way around it that everyone does type of thing, nothing shady. As I said I am new to all this and now I know a lot more my question is plain stupid! Also, a Yorkshire lass living in Texas! How did you end up there is you don't mind me asking? I am from Lancashire.

Zannah

I'm a Yorkshire las living in Houston, Texas and have a few real life friends in Texas prisons. The judicial system here will put you in jail or prison (two different entities over here) for just about anything!

The process of registering your phone number is rigorous and everything is verified. Firstly, they do not allow Google or internet phone numbers. Cell/mobile is allowed but it must be from a post-paid account and this will be verified and you'll need to scan and submit your phone bill. Hands free is not allowed and all calls are truly monitored. Each call is a maximum of thirty minutes at 6 cents per minute. The phone account can be reloaded with up to $250. Each reload is a $3 fee. At no time will you make the call, the offender always makes the call. There are usually two pay phones per block (2-300 offenders) and they all line up to use them. Making any promised call time virtually impossible. Believe me when I say,  you won't get around these rules. Research Securus, they're the company that facilitates Texas prison offender telecommunications.

Texas prisons are an industry, we have 108 prisons all housing 500+ people. The system is like clockwork and the failure rate is less thank 0.01%.

Please don't try to get away with anything dodgy, your offender will undoubtedly pay the price for your attempt.

Sure - and a few ways around laws and stuff landed the ppl we write to exactly where they're at now.

There's always a way round everything

Nope. TX doesn't allow international calls. Trying to circumvent this its very likely to get both you and your inmate in trouble, but some ppl like playing with fire, thinking they won't get burned.
