I want to send a JPay by email and have one sent back by email, is this possible? As I cannot give my address out for various reasons. So please let me know if this is possible? And if not is there a different site or a different state with inmates in which this is possible? Thanks

The terms “JPay” and “email” are often used interchangeably, but heads up that JPay isn’t email in the traditional sense. It’s a secure messaging platform for inmates. It’s not instantaneous, as every message is intercepted mid-stream and reviewed by the authorities before it’s sent along. JPay messages don’t go to or from your regular email account, they go to or from your account on the JPay app or website. Sounds more complicated than it is.

When you sign up with JPay, you must enter various info for billing: name, address, email address, and payment method. When you add an inmate contact, the only info they'll see is your name and nothing else.

Long way of saying yes, what you want to do is entirely possible (except for Texas, Colorado, and parts of California like SomehowKindaFunny said). Happy writing :-)

I'm assuming you just mean like in the JPay app? It depends on the state. So Texas, Colorado, and some California prisons print off the emails and give them out that way but your pen pal can't send their response by email. So if you're trying to stay on JPay avoid those states. Another option for you would to be renting a PO Box. I'm Canadian and for privacy reasons I went with a PO Box just in case. Good luck! Hope this helps.
