Why does Donald Trump still have a creepy relationship
with his daughter: Ivanka.

gooddog

Last week I was on a Dutch bullet journal facebook group, where I saw a name passing by that was somewhat familiar to me. Turns out that we were classmates during secondary school some odd 27 years ago. Today I visited her for the first time since graduation, and we took off like we never left. It was so bittersweet because the 5 years I spent in secondary school were the 5 happiest years of my life. And it just hurts to know that I can never get that back, they tore down my school just 3 or 4 years ago. But in the end we had an AWESOME day! So it was not all that bad :D

I love journaling. That's cool that you found her.

I’m glad they lost too, if I heard ‘it’s coming home’ one more time... grr.
Perhaps the media and fans should be a little more humble in future.

Sunnysideup

I'm Welsh but live in England, I have no interest in football, but I'm not sorry they lost...apart from anything else we'd have heard about them for a millennium if they'd won, it's bad enough as it is. ;-)

ShadeyBiz89

Hi Shadey, so you've found your own "I just could not resist"? *smile* Feel free to join the thread.
Kirsten

I was gonna say "a la Kirsten", LOL but I didn't want to single you out! I did! I once had up to 8 at a time, so I shouldn't be worried, unless I start biting off more than I can chew.

ShadeyBiz89

Smile: I found an awesome ad that I could not resist recently. Just one.

Moan: This is what I've promised myself previously I would not do, give in to temptation and I did. I think I can handle another one though, in my defense I only have two right now. lol. exhibit a of why I should never be browsing the ads, it just leads to wanting to write someone, all the time.

More smile than moan though because if the ad is any kind of accurate indication, I've found a golden one! Time will tell!

Oh i love the World Cup. Watched all the games so far and don't plan on missing any. Total geek :bounce2:

Pisces_Lion

I am one of rare people don't watch World Cup ... also I never been a sport addict ... and thanks God I live happily alone at my home so I have no men around watching on TV soccer-football and sport all time !

Sunnysideup

This European hates football, lol...

PDS

I'm 47 too, and I will take any discount they'll give me. Senior, veteran, AAA, etc... Mostly the only discount I get is to, " Dis' count out my money and give it to them." Lol

Sunnysideup

Saving $4 is win win in my book lol

KAM

Smile: I saved nearly $4 on my lunch today.
Moan: It was because the cashier gave me the senior discount.... I'm 47... Didn't think I looked THAT old...

I honestly miss how exciting the forums used to feel for me and the people I engaged with, and the few I have spoken to personally offline. It just doesn't have that magic anymore for me.

Times change. I don't know what happened in the past, but the way the forums are used and the excitement they could bring to each and everyone of us is still a potential, depending on how we use it, how we converse, what we as individuals need here. I'd personally like to see more conversation, but it is something which cannot be forced and it needs new blood as much as the old-timers to keep it going.

I received an interesting letter from someone - not a PP - last week. I had written to her about a month ago, a good, long letter as usual, introducing myself and broaching a few subjects worth discussing should she reply. Having heard nothing, I'd given up until this letter came through.

She wrote to me saying that everyone else had stopped writing to her after the first or second letter, so she'd decided to write to me instead. Like I was right down, last on the list, just in case no one else of interest answered... Really made my day and inspired me not to write back.

KAM

Smile: An awesome phone call with someone I was afraid I had lost contact with forever.

My moan: That I can't show them in person how much I've missed them, and how much they mean to me.....

gooddog

My moan is that there was an extremely scary man in back of my kids' school today threatening a house next to school property. When I walked near him he started following me. I pulled out the phone to call school security and he wisely choose to walk away. Another parent had been watching his antics and called the police 15 minutes earlier. They arrived after he left but were very nice and very aware of the criminal activity and constant shenanigans that goes on in that area. The school security guards came right away and were very good. Unfortunately this campus is a temporary one in a not so great part of town while the new school is being built.

My dog put her paws up on the police car to say "Hi" to the officer and he laughed. I know other people have had very negative experiences with the police but I have to say that I am glad they are here. Kids shouldn't be coming out of the school with that guy menacing and mumbling and staring people down and following people. He's not the first actor to be behind the school but he's definitely the scariest one I've seen. Not just anyone can make me call security. The average mumbling addict doesn't phase me but this guy was definitely aggressive. A woman approached me and said, "He's following you, you know, do you want me to call the police?" People do care, just when you think they don't.

PPAz83

I sent my man some money to call as he has been paying for them all the past couple of months and don't want people thinking I'm only with him for his $0.40ph
He has been saving for his winter clothes so not heard from him since last weekend. I just wish they were informed when people send them money and who it's from! I want him to call so I can tell him I've sent him money but he won't call until he realises that he has money! Dammit! I'm missing him so badly right now as well! :awub:

I don't know if I should laugh or cry of anger...I just received a birthday package...and my pal used 75 (seventy five) stamps to send it ! I mean.....SERIOUSLY?? Can't the facility make him pay for the shipping cost (about 35$) and put a UPS label (or something else) so he could have kept his stamps ?!

This is INSANE! it didn't even go quicker than a normal letter with 3 stamps !

(I love my birthday present though:hearts:)

Umm, sorry but Hope Solo for the American women soccer team
is a bad loser. kind of like Donald Trump will be in November.

Horrible. I could not believe her comments. There are so many people that are so grateful just to be given the opportunity to be there at all. I cannot stand her arrogance. Being a sore loser is an extremely immature stance in life. I expect that from four year olds, not adults. She has multiple problems, sore losership is not the only one. People are not "cowards" because they won the game and you lost. They just beat you that time because conditions didn't go your way. Any mature competitor knows that.

Yea, and that's why I am very proud of my vinyl collection. As a matter of fact I have 2 White albums. Lol....I even have a square record that used to come in cereal boxes. Great blues....in a Leon Russell record where I found it.

I'm Smoaning for Danpal. What a weird prison day its been for me. First, I helped a friend whose husband is locked up, then I read the post from Pisces/Lion, then I get a call from Vine link, which is a Victims Notification service here in Texas. James has been transferred to the Terrell unit. My understanding of that Unit is that its a Geriatric/Medical Unit. I had heard that James has Prostate cancer but I didn't believe it. I guess its true. Why else would a 47 year old guy go to a Geriatric Unit? My head says to bury him next to the Septic system.... But my heart won't pay no attention..... Very sad situation. Last week when I was on my way home from work a prison bus passed me, I work weird hours and take back roads a lot. I knew James was on that bus, I felt it with every fiber of my being. I guess I'll always be tied to TDC.

How did I get in the mix? ;)
Weird day indeed, it sounds like. More moans than smiles probably...
It sucks that James is sick, regardsless of his transgressions. I hope your head is strong, though, and your heart does not run away with you.
Friend hugs <3

I haven't been here in forever! How was your visit Danpal?

Hi Gipsy,
Good to see ya :) How are things with you?

I(we) had some great visits. The best ever! :) Circumstances may be difficult (and they are!), but somehow our relationship manages to grow and flourish. We both had a very good time at the visits.

I think I still kept this reply in the vein of 'smoan', didn't I? ;) 'Life' is a smoan. ;)

Smile: It's a beautiful summer's day in Denmark. We don't get that many, so everyone is happy when it happens :)
Moan: I get up and I'm freezing! Put on socks and dressing gown, huddle with my cup of tea. I quickly got used to Texas temps, it seems ;)

I have some big smiles after some crazy months: finally taking my driving lessons (and it turns out I drive so much better than I thought!), found another job... but this "having two jobs thing" has moan because I work all day and my free time has almost disapeared. So no Internet, no playing games, no working on my novel, no watching TV, no reading... Guess everything has a price!

(Have to say I'm glad to be around here again, even if I can't read or write like I liked :))

Smile - I got a new pair of studs. Beautiful gold and silver, just how I like them. And now I'm enjoying coffee at Schiphol Airport :)

Moan - I overslept on the morning, I was going to the airport and boarding the plane for Texas (well, Amsterdam is first stop), SO I forgot to put my earrings in :(

Smile again - It's all good; I made it in time for the plane - without being stopped for speeding. And I did speed. I'm not a speeder normally, but today called for special measures :-/ ;)

Looking forward to seeing you!!!!!!!! Have a great flight

The moan part: Portland Public Schools just discovered high levels of lead in the drinking water of several schools. School district did NOT follow EPA protocol in a timely manner. Now, under parental pressure, they are testing for radon as well and it is not going well. Several schools are testing above acceptable levels. Not funny at all, terrible, I have kids in the school district myself.

Now for the smile part: the pitchfork brandishing S storm that is happening over it. OMG. I know what these parents can be like (run for your life!) and right about now I would rather be standing in a 4 foot high sewer of human waste than be the superintendent of Portland Public Schools. My prediction is that the parents will have her ousted within the week. It only makes me sadly smile because I've been at meetings for far lesser problems and seen tears, yelling, gnashing of teeth, insanity, entitlement, so I can only imagine what is going on at these meetings! YES it's a serious problem but omg the outrageous outrage that will be projected upon that superintendent...Portland style. I almost want to go just to be a fly on the wall but I don't think I can handle it... oh the humanity!
You could not pay me enough to deal with the parents in this town who have perfected the art of outrage to new levels.
They shall be avenged of their obvious victimization! (sarcasm) Heads will roll! (real)

Made me smile when I saw the 2016 ATS_V White Frost Edition car, the moan came when I saw the price tag.

Dolly Parton and Alabama are two of my favorite artists. Jealous. I just started listening to Garth since i moved.

Smile, I got tickets to Garth Brooks AND Dolly Parton AND Alabama. My summer of bliss is complete.

Moan, I just read the Fort McMurray fire could take MONTHS to put out. Sweet baby jesus.

Yes, if they are taking more medication than they need to manage their condition.

Who decides how much is too much? We all have differing pain thresholds. If you've ever seen someone dying of a brain tumor then you will want to give them all the pain medication in the world.

Hmmm... So should the cancer patients (and all those who need pain medication for other serious conditions) also go to NA to address their dependence (which in your mind is the same as addiction)?

SidVicious

Of course any four stage cancer patient or condition which necessitate pain pills is different regarding use of pain killers, though I doubt that was behind the pain pills Prince was given which ended his life.

He actually had serious hip issues for a long time, since the 90s at least. His religion doesn't allow for blood transfusions, so the major hip replacement surgery he would have needed wasn't an option to him. It's not cancer by a long shot, but it's probably serious pain, which would account for the desire to use pain medication. He couldn't even stand up to perform anymore, which is why his last concerts were all just him at the piano.

Metaxu

What exactly do you think a dependence is? Another word for addiction. If you attend a NA meeting they dont separate the junkies from the ones dependent on drugs prescribed by a doctor. They are the same but if it makes people feel better to classify it as something better then feel free.

Well, the point some folks are making here is that we just don't know what all was behind Prince's use of narcotics. At this point it seems like one big vulture feeding frenzy based on assumptions and judgments.

I'm reminded of the way the late actor Dudley Moore was vilified for being an unregenerate drunk or junkie, stumbling on sets, slurring his words, drooling, etc. all the while he was suffering from an incurable and progressive degenerative brain disorder.

You just never know. We don't know what people are struggling with privately. Better to be kind. It's not our job to judge.

And I agree with that point.

If a person has stage four cancer like my sister has now, she is going to die no matter what, she is dependent on them for keeping her a pain free as possible to her death, that is not an addiction. That is a need.
