Because like you just said about plain ole country cooking, that is what I was craving. I could eat anything I wanted while I was cooking, but weird as this may sound to some, steak and lobster and other fine foods, get old FAST, when you eat it all the time. I would have been happy with a sandwich and mac n cheese.

Well, as much as I love good ole country cookin, it sure is a nice break to go out a nice atmosphere, and have (steak and lobster) a fav" served to me and just chill out. Guess to much of anything is no good.
One other favs is the smell as well as taste of homemade bread !!!! Warm from the oven with real butter too.

I feel you!
Everytime i meet a guy, he expects and wants that i cook a nice dinner for him  and it's the last thing i want to do when i'm home. Even my penpals want to taste french dishes but they're afraid that i make snails or frog legs :rollinglaugh:

LOL... Yeah theres much more to it then that, but like with Indian cooking, everyone thinks of a curry... Or whatever.. Every country has its one main dish and thats ALL that some people think of when you say its a dish from there...

KAM

thats all i needed to see now how far away is CO from Il??? i bet too far :(

Story is familiar. I had a close friend whose husband was the executive chef at a very classy Melbourne restaurant. When he got home from work (mostly after midnight), he didn't want to cook no more, and my friend didn't feel she was up to the task, so mostly they ate takeout Chinese. But they loved coming to my house to eat. My very plain country cooking appealed to them, and some of my Grannie's recipes ended up on the menu at his restaurant. Last time I visited them we ate baked beans (from a can) on toast.

I used to be a chef, years ago. I had worked at several small restaurants, and 3 resorts in California. The love is what makes the food taste so much better. Which is why I no longer do it for a living. When I was a chef, I would work all the day, and come home not wanting to cook any more, yet the gf's I had back then were afraid to cook for me, thinking I wouldnt care for the "normal" food they cook. That was precisely what I DID want! So, it got to feel like I was ALWAYS at work. Which took the love and enjoyment out of it. So I stopped. I do still cook awesomely, for friends and family, but havent professionally for many years. It has been suggested though that I retake this profession, and I feel like I just might, but I have to do it in my own restaurant. Now to find the capital to make it all work. :)

I'm a banker I'll grant you the loan lol.

I love cooking usually our family get togethers consist of each family making their own dish. It's fun but even then or when friends come over I have a tendency to worry if they like it or not or if it's perfect enough. That's why I don't think I'd be able to cook in a restaurant I'd be worrying until I pass out lol. But I guess stuyding to become chef includes how to deal with those stressful situations and overflooded restaurants?

My friend's boyfriend is a cook as well, he often craves for the regular McDonalds haha.

:headbang: When people say they're a cook I fall in love lol. Nothing better than a good meal especially when the love put within is what makes it tasty!!

that certain website is a pain in the rear on the 14th Jan around about 11pm.

I know, and around Aug 18th. The company had huge problems this year. Our team did everything we needed to, but we were also fielding calls from applicants because *someone* made the decision not to put the CSU phone number on the Course Search pages.

I never said it was a good job or a good company, but our team takes pride in what we do.

Cat herder.

But that doesn't pay, so those in the UK who have ever applied to go to University are probably aware of a certain course search on a certain web-site where you find out about the courses on offer. I supervise the team of 12 little monkeys who make sure those courses are entered onto the system in a way that students will be able to find and understand them. We handle lots of other data too, but most of that is supplied to other companies.

I also write part-time, and sell hand-knitted goods.
