If like me, you like to send books to your penpal to help them pass the time/share the reading experience with them you may have came across the approved online vendors list that stated Amazon and Barnes & Noble were the go to book vendors.
I thought I would chance my luck and send a book via The Book Depository. They have a bargain bucket section so for a few pounds I purchased a book and informed my penpal not to return it if it wasnt accepted at his end.
A few quid I can afford to lose and I was testing the water's anyway. No shipping charge either so that's an extra bonus.
The company Amazon is a parent company of the Book Depository.
I am not sure if it was a fluke that the book got through in the first place or whether the mail room lacked due diligence and just accepted it. Who knows. My penpal stated there was no issues and I would say (comparing other states) no delay in receiving the book.
I will update this post every time I successfully/unsuccessfully manage to get a book to my inmate penpal incarcerated here through this company.
Perhaps others can share thier experience of using The Book Depository with the Washington State prison service.
Happy reading everyone.
